I've only used them with wild caught gliders. With bitey "teenage type" gliders, I have used a small square of cloth for the initial pick up. For extremely nippy gliders, I will use a cloth to pick them up and then immediately transfer them to my bare hand. This spares me the majority of bites and still gets them used to my hand.
