I agree that shipping should be avoided if possible, if only because of the possible risks. but I also feel that the dangers are often exaggerated.
Many airlines today ship animals in pressurized, temperature controlled environments. The real danger is if it is not a direct flight, so that should be avoided. My two personal experiences with shipping gliders were favorable, and the gliders showed no adverse effects (besides having their sleeping schedules a little behind!) Just try to be responsible about it -- take every precaution! ...just my opinion.
