Well....I agree with some of what Jane says. In particular, the diet. If you are feeding leadbetters and got a good check-up, then why change for the sake of convenience. Spend a little time making what your SG eats since you know it's working.
As for dumping the vet, don't think I would do that for the following reason. It is REALLY hard to find a vet who knows anything at all about SG. This vet obviously knows how to conduct a physical exam, which is a feat in itself.
I would ignore his diet recommendation and keep him for pet care. Let's give the man credit for knowing how to treat SG.
Also, you might want to ask him to have some of his SG patients give you a call for references. Don't ask him to give out patient phone nos. though.
As always, this is just my personal opinion.
