: ive been wanting one for some time now
: the best deal i have found yet is $150 for a friendly 5 month old male its at a pet store
: is that a good deal?
It sounds like a good one to me if he is indeed tame, social, and friendly. I do not generally advocate buying gliders from pet shops, most have been traumatized but it sounds like he may not have been. Have you handled him yourself?
: i have a lot of info on them allready, but i could allways use more
Just keep searching the many sites on the net and read everything that you can on them.
: i was also going to build my own cage, but i found out that wood cages are hard as hell to clean, could anyone give me some ideas for cages??
Many of my cages are all wire construction secured with clamps, and the latches are spring latches with S hooks attached to them. The wire should be no more than 1" X 1/2" in width. Coated wire is good, galvanized wire can also be used. We use to think that galvanized wire was toxic but it is the galvanizing process that releases toxic fumes. After the wire has been galvanized it is safe to use. Hardware cloth can be toxic to gliders however.
: and is it bad if i have a cat also? will they fight? hes not in the same room as the SG will be, but when i bring him out will they not get along?
Many people have cats and gliders. I do and I know one lady that has 27 cats and just as many pairs of gliders. I also know that while my cats and gliders do get along, I do not trust the cats and will not leave them unsupervised. I have heard too many stories of cats killing gliders. Use extreme caution when you have them in the same room together they can both be very fast an it only takes an instant for disaster to strike.
