I have a breeding pair of sugar gliders I've had them for about a year now.
They are happy,tame,and healthy animals they have bred successfully before. the babies they had were great, they were healthy also.
That was my first litter of gliders. The breeding Pair I have were wild caught. Not even a month later when I brought them home they began mating. so that proves the well being of my pets.
She soon became pregnant again the lump in her stomach became bigger and bigger. I could tell she was going to have only one this time. on 12/15 was the first I saw her new joey I saw it was healthy also.
I was very confident that the joey was going to turn out to be healthy just like the other ones.
When I woke up this morning (12/19) I went to there cage observe the baby and see how it was doing. My gliders were still awake I looked at the mothers pouch to see if it alright but the baby wasnt in her pouch. It wasn't there, right away I knew something was wrong.
I looked in there nesting box I took out the blanket and carefully examined it was not there either. I then check out the bottom of the cage. Then I saw what didnt want to see. The remains of what used to be my 2 day old glider.
My first reaction was "What the Fuck!" I later came to conclusion that she probally ate it. I dont understand why she would becuase I give her all her nuturional requirements.
WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?
