Please see this link: Gillian's Help Desk
It has several articles written by a pharmacologist/toxicologist about toxicity of items towards birds. It has an article on weeping fig (ficus) and safe branches to use.
I wouldn't recommend a live plant inside the cage, they will kill it very quickly and they will get in the dirt which can harbor parasites.
Try using branches with the leaves still on them so they can be changed when they are stripped of leaves/bark.

: Can anyone tell me what tree's are safe for gliders?
: I wanted to put in a Ficus tree in their cage, or something similiar that remains relatively small and doesn't produce a fruit. I want something that will live fine in a pot.
: If not, has anyone ever put a fake ficus in with the gliders? Will they attempt to chew on the fake branches, or eat the silk leaves?
: Thanks,
