A couple of months ago my boyfriend made me this cage. This thing is about 5ft tall, and my suggies love it!!! I encourage people to make them because they are well worth it and we have a lot of extra space for them to run around now.

That is absolutely beautiful! Right now my suggie's cage is only 3 feet tall, which is the recommended minimum but I just want to spoil them and get them a gigantic cage!

sigh. Maybe when I get the funds i can build one!

Really nice! I love it! makes me more excited to build one!

Mine love it!!! They are never caught on it and don't chew the mesh. I have one guy that likes to chew but he has so many toys he leaves the hardware cloth alone. It's under 100$-120$ to make! ;) big plus .....you can make it as big as you want!!!! I actually made a second one!

I am planning on making one almost just like this next week. How do your gliders like it? do they get caught on it at all? do they chew on it?
I like the idea of making the gliders a cage for a few reasons, 1) it will actually be less expensive to build one. 2) a homemade cage will give them more room to run and play. 3) I don't have to track down a large enough cage that sugar gliders will be happy in.

How much does it cost to build a homemade cage

the mesh used for PVC cages is 1/2'' plastic hardware cloth; it's sold at hardware stores. if you're looking for it, ask where the chicken-wire is 'cause they may not know what you're talking about if you say plastic hardware cloth - it'll be in the same general area. as a note, it's about $3.50 a roll cheaper at Lowe's than it is at Home Depot.

I LOVE PVC cages - they're so much better than store-bought stuff! I will never buy a cage again.

What kind of mesh did you use?

i guess i've just been lucky. i've had a rope in my cage for the past 5 years and i've never had a problem with it.

I love it. I have 2 and I am planing on makeing 2 possibly 3 more. :) Its wonderful. Although I agree you should take out the ropes

Yeah ropes are a no no :( its beautiful and homemade PVC cages are not good with dogs either

I like it. Be sure all openings are too small for them to get out. Nice cageset too. I think the rope thing might need to come out though. I believe someone said something about suggies getting their nails caught on them.
