I came into possession of a Sugar glider last summer when my friend moved away to go into the Navy. He owned the glider, by herself, for 3 years (she's 4 now). She didn't even have a name, had a disgusting cage, and only a sock and a wheel in her cage.

I gave him $50 for her and the cage and took her home. I promptly named her Splenda, and everything was great. Cleaned the cage, got her a silent wheel without a crossbar, a ball pit, and some sleeping pouches. I started her on a BML diet, with a couple of mealworms a day. My friend had only fed her dry food and dried fruit and nuts for the 3 years he had her.

She's an ornery critter though. I feel like with all the neglect she experienced, she doesn't trust people. She would crab and bite at me, until I started feeding her the BML and mealies and taking her out everyday. She got a bit better, no more crabbing or biting. But she's scared of everyone except me.

Unfortunately, I'm a poor college student, and I work almost 40 hours a week. I can't give her the attention I used to anymore, and now she just sits in my room with no interaction until I get back home from classes or work. I feel horrible that I'm treating her like my friend did, and don't want her to suffer anymore. I'd rather not take her to a shelter, because I don't think any of the ones around me take Gliders. So I think my only hope is to find a new owner. Someone that can actually give her the love and attention she needs and deserves. My first thought was to put an ad on Craigslist, but then I remembered this site, and how wonderful people are on here.

I'm not looking for any money for her. I just want my Splenda to have a good home :/

I'm located in Florida, in the Tampa Bay area.

Before I give her to anyone, though, I'd just have to see proof that you're a capable Glider owner.
