I'm new to the forums, and sugar gliders, So I thought I would go ahead and introduce myself. I've done a TON of reading on these little guys and picked my first one up about 3 weeks ago. Although I had been preparing to buy a couple for weeks, I must say the purchase was somewhat of an impulse. I was in this crappy pet store and saw this poor little thing in a tiny dirty cage, pellet food only, nothing to climb on and barely any toys. It was bright an loud in the store and the poor thing just looked so sad. The girl in the store said HE was nippy, had basically never been handled, so naturally I had to take it home. Ended up finding out he was a SHE, got her on the right diet and now I'm just trying to bond with her, her name is Tonks :) She's come a long way in the beginning she would bite me all the time and wanted nothing but to get away from me, now she'll actually run all over me when I have her at work. I realized it was going to take some time to bond with her, I'm just glad I'm making some progress lol I got my second guy, Atreyu, only a couple days ago off craigslist. He was a Pocket Pets baby, so naturally when I went to pick him up he was in a tiny cage, eating their "special food" and the girl, while she had good intentions, was completely off on telling me how to care for him. He ended up being neutered as well, so once his quarantine period is finished he'll be the perfect cage mate for Tonks. He's a sweetie, very shy ad a little skittish at the moment, but likes to curl up in my pocket already, and has not bitten me once yet. Anyways just thought I'd share and let you guys know a little about me and my gliders, I hope to learn a lot on the forums!! |

While going through quarantine/introductions, I had one cage (the cage the girls live in now) which was significantly bigger than the other. Once quarantine was up, and I was introducing them to each other's smells, I started swapping cages. It made me not feel so bad that someone was cooped up in a smaller cage all the time. Also, welcome! Glad to see you've got two gliders, got them on a good diet, have gotten them checked out by a vet, and know about quarantine/introductions. :] |

Yes he is neutered, meant to include that. Both have been checked by a vet, fecals done as well. I'm actually a technician at a clinic, so I was able to read their fecals myself. My female's name is Tonks, if that's what you meant. I'm feeding the HPW diet, and yes they do have a big cage and I have two of the stealth wheels. Tonks like to run on it more than Atreyu, so I figured two will be good since she's a wheel hog lol. Yes I have bonding pouches and pouches in their cages, Tonks is in the big cage and Atreyu is in a smaller cage for now until I let them meet. You're not overwhelming me at all :) |

Congrats and welcome. Is Atreyu neutered? Have you had both vet checked? Whats her name? What diet are you feeding? So many questions, sorry to overwhelm you. Did you get a big cage, glider-safe wheel? How about pouches? |
