I truly hate to sew. I don't have the patience for it. But ... I've had this piece of really pretty fleece for almost a year now, and have always wanted to do something with it. So on Sunday I went to Wallyworld to see if there was a matching color to make a ... a ... a cage set!!! And there was!!!! It had to be fate. I bought a yard, and went home and started figuring out how to cut the pieces. Then on Monday I sewed the pouches, and that took me about three hours; and today I sewed the corner hammocks --- that only took about two hours. The seams are crooked, and the pieces are a little lumpy; but overall, I'm pretty proud of doing it! Everything's very large!!!

Tomorrow I take the cage outside for a good scrubbing, and then I'll hang their new things. I hope they like 'em!

Ladies who make these things in quantity, you have my heartfelt respect. I don't know how you can do it, especially for the very reasonable prices you charge. I figure, with all the time I spent planning and cutting and sewing, and at the miserly wage I earn at work, this is about a $75 four-piece set ... and I sure wouldn't pay that much, what with the lumps and crooked seams and all. Hats off to all of you!

I'd love to try to make some things . Is there a instructional video to buy? I would want to do it right for my babies' sake (that toenail thing). That looks pretty good snuzie and seems the boys like it too.

It looks great, Snusie! I think your babies are lovin' it!!! :-)

Ack! I don't know how much sewing I can actually stand to do. But I think it's pretty, anyway. Here's some pics of the cage and the boys in one of the pouches.

Sorry it's so blurry, I don't know why. All the shots I took came out that way.

Good job. You made the first step and you will be whipping them out left and right in no time. Have fun with it.

Yea! Good for you! I wouldn't even think about attempting that. I can't sew worth a crud. Wish I could. You did a great job!

I give anyone props that can do this, I wish I could! Very good job!

They look fantastic! I wish I could sew but I have a phobia of sewing machine and sergers since I pushed my fingers in a little too far and..... OUCH.

You did a great job for your first try. Nice work. You have to love sewing to make cage sets, because it truly is a labor of love. My husband and I make sets, he cuts and I sew. And even with 2 of us it is still a time intensive process. We love it and out of it we spoil our 12 suggies, almost to much. LOL.

I Love them. You did an awesome job. I wouldn't even try to do this but you did great. Can't wait to see pictires in the cage.

I love it. Great job Snusie. I bet it will be your babies favorite since mom made it especially for them.

You did great... Very cute!

Yep, when I do my orders, I can't take time into consideration, a Hippie pouch takes WAY more than $75.00 worth of time

But like Wendi says, it's fun and it keeps my Suggie Supply habbit funded. (and bartering is really fun too!)

Good job, Snusie!

I remember the first time I made a screened bonding pouch...I probably spent $75 in zippers, fabric, screen, and bias tape before I finally got it right! I can get one made pretty quickly now, barring any distractions that cause me to flub one up.

I figure if I were to charge what my hourly wage would be in health care for a typical cage set, just the labor alone would be close to $100! Anyhow, I enjoy making these, and get a lot of satisfaction out of the enjoyment others get out of my items. So, for now anyhow, it's worth it to me. The way I look at it is, for every set I make, I can support my glider habit by getting other things for by own suggies. Besides, this keeps me outta trouble!

You did a great job! I love that fabric, too! Very pretty!

Looks GREAT!!! I couldn't sew if my life depended on it. I wish I could!! Maybe one of these days when I'm out of college and actually have time to have a life, I can learn to sew.

I'm proud of you!!
