I have two female gliders (Remmi and Bella). They were adopted separately (4 weeks apart; Remmi first then Bella). I took each girl to the vet the day after adoption and upon well-baby check up with our Bella, we learned she had worms. It was six weeks and a visit back to the vet to get the all clear on the worms before we could introduce the girls face to face. Their habitats have been 18 inches apart for the past four weeks and the girls bonding pouches are near each other every day while on me. This past week I have been exchanging their pouches to get them used to one another's scent. They watch each other climb around and play nightly and sometimes will bark at each other.
I placed them in the bathtub this morning after placing a large piece of new fleece on the floor of the tub. I allowed them to see each other before just releasing them in the tub. They each climbed out of their pouches (which I removed from the tub). They approached each other, Bella immediately began grooming Remmi. Remmi was busy sniffing Bella. Things seemed to be fine when they suddenly started crabbing and Bella grabbed Remmi with hands and mouth. They backed away and appeared as though they were going to attack so I grabbed Remmi to separate them. Remmi was hyper afterwards, but Bella was shy and cautious. After inspecting each girl for bite wounds, I comforted each girl and they are both sleeping now.
Do I try again? If so, what do I do to better prepare the girls? Please help!
