I have a question about bonding. Mine has come a long way since the first day I got her. She still crabs at me in her pouch but she'll allow me to put my hand in there with her and she'll fall asleep with it. I happened to watch a YouTube video about bonding, it was some vet. He said a good technique would be to cup them in between both your hands. Is this a good idea, or will this freak them out? I noticed some of the info in his videos are questionable.

I am a new Sugar Glider mom. We just adopted a 2 yr old girl. I am trying to get her to bond with me. We haven't had her for long at all. We saved her from going to the pound.
I've been just letting her smell me & nibble
I'm not pushing.

I have a feeling I know what "vet" you are talking about and he is not legit. He is a pocket pets puppet. Some things he says are true but most of it is propaganda. I would be very careful what advice you follow from him.

I recommend watching Lilly Belle Looks, Kids & Gliders, and Lisa Lu. They are much better sources of glider information.

I have had my gliders for 3 months no and I can't get them to allow me to cup and hold them. If I need to pick them up, I definitely DO cup them. But they do not let me just hold them that way.

But I am far from an expert. But there are lots of smart glider folks here.

I think putting your hand in the pouch with them is fine. they will sleep with your scent and become for comfortable with you. You are part of their colony then and NOT a predator.
she is crabbing at first cause she doesn't know what the danger is, so she is scaring it away. Once she sees its you or your hand and NOT a danger she should stop crabbing.
I'm not saying you cant cup them and let them sleep, there are many ways to bond. One girl online has a video in what she says she lets them pee on her hands, then she holds them in her hands. the pee scent lets them be comfortable with being held. Then after a few times of doing this they are very happy to sit in her hands.

I think I know the vet you're talking about. I don't know how reliable he is, but his videos have some decent information in them...

Personally, I didn't force Tveit to be in my hands at all. I kept him in the pouch and put my hand inside to pet him. I hand fed him treats. He is pretty bonded to me, but still won't walk onto my hand completely most of the time. He always leaves one hand on his cage/pouch.

I think petting them, holding them in the pouch, playing with them at night and letting them crawl on you, and using a piece of fleece with your smell for them to sleep with at night is plenty.
