I was introduced to sugar gliders a year ago when I was in Oregon, and I've wanted one since. I've done my research and am prepared to take care of and love two joeys. There's a problem though. I live in Southern California. I understand that they are illegal, but I have been told by ferret owners and even a couple family friends that are police officers that this rule isn't enforced. I already know of a vet in San Diego that will treat hedgehogs and gliders. I know that pet stores and other mill breeders are bad news, which is why I'm asking you guys for help. I would be really grateful if someone could give me info for a breeder in California or even in a surrounding state that would sell to me. Thank you!

Hey SGlider101 - who is the breeder you speak of? I have been searching cali from top to bottom and would really love a nudge in the right direction.

SGLIDER101 I'd love the info as a just in case. I'm talking to a guy right now that's looking to rehome his girl after her cagemate passed, so fingers crossed that I'm able to bring her home. Just in case though I'd like the info because my guy needs a friend. Thanks so much for the help!

Tiakristen3 I don't think I have a glider flown into California but if a Breeder would be willing I would travel to a neighboring state to pickup. I think that's my best option than buying from another pet store. Thanks!

Sounds like you're doing a good job researching all your options. Since sugar gliders are illegal in California, it may be challenging to find a breeder who will sell to you. There are many breeders (www.petglider.com for example) who will ship throughout the United States (not sure about California but it's worth asking). The out of state breeder I purchased a glider from a few months ago didn't ask where I was from so it wasn't an issue. One option is to drive to a state where gliders are legal like Arizona, Nevada, or Oregon and adopt from there. I ran across several obstacles in my search that led me on a journey from Seattle to Florida and many places in between. It was emotional and frustrating at times but so very worth it! Wishing you all the best!

Did you ever find one? I got my little guy (unfortunately) from a pet store in Vegas. Our bonding is going so well I'm already looking to find him a friend. But in CA it's hard, because the ones I do find are sold really fast (and I'm sure to people who have no experience). I'm now considering going back to Vegas in search of another one because my boy needs a friend. I'd really prefer to get another from a breeder though because of knowing the right age and genetics. Good luck in your search!
