My 3 year old Lucy recently had an abscess right under her left hand where the wing starts. It started as a cut and grew to a large abscess very quickly. Not sure what caused the cut but it is a small cut. However the infection came quick. Took her to the vet and the vet said it was draining on its own and gave antibiotics. 1 day later the abscess was scabbing. She began to bite at the scab. 2 days later the area where the wing first meets the arm has been ripped off her arm and it's hanging! I called the vet and they said I have to wait until Monday to come in. It's Thursday! So worried. She is eating OK but she eats , grooms, and mutilates until she naps again. she won't leave it alone. Don't know how to make an e collar and probably couldn't get it on her. Breaks my heart. She needs pain meds asap.

I'm sorry this has happened to you.

Honestly idk how to make an e collar or how to put one on. So I understand what that's like. I do think the e collar is the best thing for her right now. Google how to make an e collar and try to make one and put it on her. Two things can come out of trying. 1 you succeed and she is now unable to mess with the wound or 2 you fail and there is no harm done.

If I were you, I would try to find another vet. If they aren't going to see her asap find one that will.

Best of luck. I hope you can find a vet and she gets better.
