My female glider I notice last night had a white fleshy piece of skin near the corner of her eye? Can someone help? I don’t know what it is. I am taking her to the vet.

Ok so the only vet that are near me are 2 and a half hours away from me. I called yesterday but they closed at 12 and they are closed today. And good news my sugar gliders eye is back to normal! But will be definitely be keeping an eye on her. And that list of safe antibiotics thank you I will definitely if I have to, be looking at that list for the future!

I just found this
Don't know how reputable they are but

Good to have an idea of what's safe

Ok thank you. I’m just a very worried momma at the moment. I will keep this updated.

I think it should be ok
They do grooming each other and will obsess over a wound on on their bodies but I think if they were going to groom her She would probably close her eye
maybe sleep in the room with the cage that way if there's any fighting you'll hear it

Good luck at the vets tomorrow
Let us know what they say
They may want to do a stain on the eye to check for a scratch on the eye
Take your phone with you to check that whatever medicine (if any) are ok
Exp: Baytrill can be unsafe for rabbits to take (kill gut Flora)
I have no idea what can be harmful to gliders concerning medications

Ok thank you and no she has been acting fine very hyper and hard to handle (like normal). But I will definitely be keeping a close eye on her until I can get her to the vet. Should I keep her with her cage mate? Or separate?

Eyes are sensitive
I would wait and see what the vet says
You could check for dehydration on her back (pull the skin on her back gently up if it stays she is dehydrated)
It could be a scratch on the eye?
In the pic it doesn't look pink or inflated (some times a picture doesn't show well)
Does she seem to be rubbing it?

Make a list of anything that she's doing out of the ordinary to take with you to the vet
Sneezing, Eye rubbing, not opening it the whole way,
Anything you can think of would be surprised what could be important during diagnosis

Is there anything I can do until I can get her to the vet?
Coreymycat Posted - Dec 01 2017 : 07:51:12 PM
I noticed last night and thought maybe it was her just waking up and it would go back in. But it’s been like that all day. I don’t know what to do in the mean time until I can take her to the vet.

It could be the third eyelid
eye could be dry maybe dehydrated ?
Do you see it all the time ?
