He only eats his insectivore-fare food but thats it. How can I get him to eat fruits and vegetables? I have only had him for 3-4 days. Thanks in advance!

I'm a first time owner as well, we've been feeding BML for just over a week a think. It's great. Easy and really saves time in my opinion.

The first two nights they really didn't eat much of it, no surprise.
Second night ate a little more (they're still very young so I only gave them half the serving size) almost finished it.

Now we serve ALMOST the full serving, but not much fruit and veggies yet, they really don't care for it much at this age it seems.

But I definitely recommend BML, it might take a few days to get them used to it so have other options available until you notice them eating it.

I also found dipping my finger in the mixture and letting them lick it off helped introduce the diet to them. And, bonding! :)

Thank you so much! I'll definitely do the BML diet for my glider.

insectivore-fare, I'm not all that familiar with these multi animal, soft pellets but personally I don't feel exotic nutrions food or treats are very good quality.

I'd suggest looking at diets specifically made for gliders that are widely used and well known like Critter Love or Bml.

As far as the fruit n veg..

None of my gliders will touch strawberries, blueberries they like, mango mine don't like much and it's a bit acidic so I don't offer it a lot, and watermelon mine all love.

blueberries, cherries, apples, papaya, cucumbers, grapes are all good ones to try

carrots, lettuce, and salad leaves.

Mine aren't a fan of raw carrots but they love baby carrots that are steamed, lettuce and salad leaves don't have much nutritional value to them.

Green beans, peas, carrots are fine but some are picky about how they are prepared, corn in moderation unless a diet specifically allows it, these are some other ones you can try.

If you get on a well know glider diet fruits and veg are listed for each diet, they help provide vitamins and minerals in the over all diet, it also takes the guess work out of what to feed. Bml is by far the easiest to prepare, and get ingredients for http://www.bmldiet.com/index.html

I have tried feeding him strawberries, blueberries, mango, and watermelon. He actually ate watermelon when I put it in different places on his cage.
As for vegetables I have tried carrots, lettuce, and salad leaves.

Joeys don't typically start eating fruits and veg really well until they hit about 5 or 6 months old, They grow into them.

Also, sometimes they are actually eating more of the fruit and veg than you think they are. Gliders don't eat pods, shells or skins of fruits and veg they only eat the tender parts in the middle. They can't digest those outer parts of the food.

So when you feed mm lets say frozen peas not in the pod, they eat the middle parts and the outside shell looks like it hasn't be touched. They bite a little hole in the shell and eat the middles, spitting out what ever they can't digest ( the pulp )

The shell looks normal visually, but if you pick them up you might find them to actually be empty or chewed on. Same with kernels of corn, the shell remains but the insides are hollow.

So don't just look at the food and assume he didn't touch it, pick some pieces up and really look to see if it's full or empty.

But again, if he is young, he may not be interested in fruits n veg until he matures and his body develops a little more, that is perfectly normal, just keep offering them to him he will eventually start eating them.

What fruits and vegs have you been offering him??

when we get rehomed gliders we put them on OHPW with fruits and veggies.
with this new food the new gliders will usually eat the OHPW. but not the fruits and
veggies. After while (weeks and maybe two months) they will start eating the corn, maybe the peas. then green beans and some of the fruits. finally the start to eat some of all of it.
but it takes them a surprising long time to start eating it.

just keep giving it to them, the will try it sooner or later.
