Okay so joeys turned two weeks yesterday so since today is my day off I decided I wanted to try holding babies. Usually at night I take one or two (of my six adult) gliders out and into my large bathroom (after sealing everything of course) so that's what I was going to do tonight. Earlier today I brought the big pouch that they were all in out to scent bond while they slept. Well I ended up getting one of the babies out and handling her right there in front of parents everything was fine. When I put them back in cage five adults went into the little hide away coconut hut they had a baby with them, mom stayed in pouch with one baby. After about an hour I walked into the room just as baby fell out of cocnut. I freaked out and picked him up, he was fine but even as she cried no one came to her. I figured maybe it was because they were all too tired so I put baby in pouch with mom. Several hours later I took pouch out that had mom, dad and twins out to the bathroom neither seemed to want anything to do with baby, dad let him ride on his back but tried walking away when baby was trying to climb on him. After a few minutes I put baby in pouch with mom but she didn't seem to want anything to do with him and she seemed lathargic but she's never been real energetic so I'm not sure and her nose is bright pinkish/red so I know she's not sick.

Is baby being rejected?

This is my first time with joeys and it's her first litter. She is between 1-2 years old with a nervous personality.

Anything you can tell me about joeys will help tremendously!
When I held baby he seemed real thin and very unsteady but like I said I have no idea if that's normal or not.

The most accurate way is to check her weight regulary, if she is not gaining weight, she's underfed.

It's moms first litter but not the groups first set of joeys. Mom was born into this group and dad was introduced shortly before she was born. He is at least three years old and was a rescue.

I will keep an eye on them, how can I tell if they are being nursed properly? I want to make sure both babies are being fed.

I will check out her site! :)

1st time parents are often less careful with their joeys.
Keep an eye on the joey to make sure the mother is nursing. If she keeps on not taking care of this joey, you may have to hand raise or at least supplement feed.
There is a really informative page on that topic on Suz sugar glider site.
