I've 2 sugar gliders (7 months old) and I had them for about 1 month and 2 weeks, I'm making progresses, they stopped the biting and they crab less when they see me.

Though, sometimes during night I find them outside their pouch (where they sleep). After they see me, they freeze, not a move or a sound.

I can easily reach them with my hand: at first I give them a couple of treats (that they enjoy very much) and then I cuddle them a little (I softly pet them with my hand).
I don't know if they're doing this (don't crab, don't bite, let me pet them, let me feed them) because they're too scared to do anything or because they have started to understand that I'm not a monster.

Any clues?

I don't even know it's a good idea to pet them, but I'd like to get them used to my touch so I give them a little treat and then I pet them a bit. They don't try to run away or anything, even when I close the cage.

PS The female bit me on the finger but very very softly and slowly, I hardly noticed the bite. Sometimes though, when I approach their pouch during daytime, they still crab a bit. I've no idea what's going on in their heads.

they dont know whats going on, what is that strange sounds outside our house, do we have a dangerous situation, are we in danger, lets crab and scare them away.
think of it like their alarm system and siren. My dogs hear something outside and
they bark, they don't always see what it is they just hear a noise and bark and go
to the front door. I feel it's the same with glider, they may never stop crabbing,
but most likely one will stop, one might keep up the alarm system always.

My less bonded gliders will either move slightly away, or all the way away to
back of cage. so if they are bothered or scared I would expect them to show it, even if its by fast breathing. I would suggest to keep it slow, but sounds like
what you are doing is going well.
