Hey there, so my sugar glider recently mutilated his tail and had to go get part of it amputated yesterday. He is separated from his brother and in a small recovery cage. The vet sent him home with an Ecollar. However; he was able to get his tail to his face despite the collar and started chewing. It looks like he pulled out half of the stitches. It doesn’t look too bad, not bleeding or anything. He is on antibiotics and pain meds. We put a little cut piece of straw on the end of his tail and attached it to the base with some medical tape, with the end open to let it breathe, so he shouldn’t be able to get at it for now. I’m watching him like a hawk as well. The vet won’t be open again until Monday, so I can’t call them about the situation right now. Does anyone have any advice for me? Was the straw thing alright? Do you think it’ll heal like this or will he need to go in for more stitches maybe? Should I do anything else until I can call the vet? Thanks for any advice! |
