I just picked up my first pair of gliders today, brother/sister. The lady I got them from said they were "born" in May, but I am not sure if that means OOP or actually *birthed.* They seem a decent size; this week it would be 7 weeks OOP if that was their birthdate.

She stated that the breeder she got them from didn't neuter the male, so I will have to do so ASAP. The earliest I could get our local exotic vet to do it would be 2 weeks in the future.

How much time do I have until the male becomes sexually mature? He doesn't have a bald spot yet, though I know they can breed before one develops. I am willing to separate them, but if there are adverse affects (depression) I would be hesitant to do so... is there any other temporary solutions until I can get him in for neutering?

They mature 8-12 weeks(depending birthday) will mate quickly when ready. Separating them will cause a depression however if they are brother and sister breeding will cause defects and health problems for the Joeys as well as the mother can start self mutilation. It's always better so keep same sex Sugies together. You have to decide between the two for I wouldn't be able to choose.

If you decide to separate them for the week or 2, a lot of love and attention is needed. My one started self mutilation only after 1 week of her sister dying.
