Hehe, I see a little info helpdesk is needed right here!
1) It really depends on the hedgie. Hedgehogs are usually all grumpy with a few exceptions, but they all own different personalities, so it's really hard to tell. You will be able to "tame" a hedgie, a.k.a. you can learn it to be handled and some even like to cuddle, like mine do. But for the most time they sleep, they are nocturnal so they are awake when most of us are asleep. Hedgies are generally curious, but there's everything between grumpy biters to sweet cuddlers, so it really depends on how lucky you get. You can't train a hedgie to be nice, it will bite you if it wants to.
2) No, I can't say that they're "social". They aren't like suggies, coming up to you for treats and affection. A really curious hedgie will come to you and seek treats, but that's about it. Otherwise they pretty much go their own ways and just ignore you.
3) Hedgehogs are insectivores (spelling?), so their diet should mainly consist of insects. I also feed mine boiled chicken, boiled egg, different kinds of protein baby foods, peas, green beans etc. (geee, sounds a lot like suggie food

), but about 80% of my hedgie diet consist of different insects. So if you don't like bugs, then hedgehogs are nothing for you.

I would think that they are social and it would probably be best to get two, but I dont know for sure.
Hedgehogs are hermits and are always housed alone. They aren't social animals because of this, so this means you will not get a societyanimal of them. They will learn their owners voice, smell and touch, they will take treats from you, but they will not show you any kind of affection, only trust. They are cute, YES, but they have a different diet from other animals, so this makes them a bit more high maintenance.
My hedgie is a grumpy old man, but he can be sweet if he wants to
