So I have finally done it. 3wks ago I decided to trust another male glider since most of you know about my pitbull glider (tootles) I was really hestitant to have another male. Well my new boy turbo is doing really well. He has not gotten to play with my girls yet because he is not neutered yet. His apt is May 12th Mary H is taking him to her vet doc Croft. He leaves the pom pom and is really wonderful she says. So I am nervous what can I expect with him. Will there be alot of pain involved? Mary is going to keep him that night for me to keep an eye on him. He is really a sweet guy and our bonding process is going really well. He will be 1yr old in June so he is not a baby. Well wish us luck I really want this to go well. Oh and we named him turbo..

I wish Turbo & you goodluck !!! I recently got my two boys nuetered one who is bonded to me, and one that were still in the bondin process, but he's still a sweetie. Both of them did great, and one overgrooms, and I had no idea that they even had it done, they just were mad I kept them from there mates so paced the cages alot..lol I didn't have to use pain meds or e collars, so I wouldn't worry to much.

The vet that most people recommend here in the DFW area gives a pain reliever that lasts 24 hours. Obviously, this decision by the vet depends on his procedure. The gliders that I've seen go through that procedure recover rather quickly, and are running in wheels and whatnot either the day of the surgery or the next.

Good luck!

Sorry, Tootles...didn't see this until now. I had our newest little guy neutered last month and it went really well. They sent me home with 3 days worth of Metacam in 3 pre-filled syringes. I never had to use the collar and I never saw him bothering his incision site. I think the meds kept him a little dopey but he had no adverse reactions. He ate and drank that night like normal too. He let me baby him more than normal so it was actually a positive bonding time. Giving the meds was a little tricky for me, but he seemed to take it the best with some whipped cream. I hope all goes well! I'm sure he'll do great.

Thanks you guys.. I think he will do good according to how Mary's vet does it. She said they are usually up that evening playing. I hope it goes the same for him. She wants to take him she said so if there are problems she is familiar with it already. Not to mention she said that way he isn't mad at me for it LOL. Thanks again and I will let you know how it goes.
