FORGET everything those people told you.....First of all you need to take your gliders to an exotic vet for an exam to make sure they are in good health. These people do NOT have a good reputation in the glider community.
Gliders must NOT be given a heat rock.....Diet is the most important thing you must choose....forget the on line food....it is NOT good for them...There are several thoughts on diet...go back to the home page here and scroll down..I believe it is the third topic down on the left side...DIETS....
I have had my 3 gliders for a year and a half...I do what I call the Kazko diet....50% protein, 25% fruit (I do fresh but many do frozen or a mixture) and 25% veggies (again fresh or frozen)...I also give every couple of days yogurt or cottage cheese with pineapple. Mealies live can be bought at your pet store..mine like the med. size....Protein..can be baked chicken, turkey, shrimp, hamberger (drain grease real well)...some ppl give baby food chicken with broth, turkey with or beef with..mine loved that for awhile but now what big people food. PLEASE READ...all about the diets....
and read as many posts as you can they really are helpful....go into all areas of this site and come into chat...we have many people in chat that would be more then happy to answer any questions you have and talk to you about any concerns..
Male gliders smell until they are neutered..even then you must keep the cage clean to avoid the smell. They are little pooping and peeing machines at least once a week you need to clean out the bottom tray...and wash their sleeping pouches and any cageset..toys and branches next to be washed on diff. days or they will over mark their things and really smell....
YOU DO NOT WANT FOOD THAT LASTS ONE YEAR....also Pocketpets most always sells small cages....gliders need a good size cage.....come into the chat room and folks there will go over that information and even tell you where to look top find what you need at decent prices....It cost nothing to be a member here...
I worry if you don't have the $88.00 for that garbage food and shipping how you will afford to take them to a vet for an exam.....I don't know where you live but check our VET information to see if an exotic vet is near you...many vets have never even seen a Sugar Glider so check it out before you go to a vet. Good luck...
