So i was watching tv the other day and a commercial comes on and it is called like "perfect grass" or something like that. They say it will grow from seeds into healthy grass right on concrete. They also say it will heal dogs pee stains on the grass and i had an idea. Could you put grass in a gliders cage drop pan so that you didn't have to change the bedding so often?

I have played with the idea of having grass or another plant/dirt below the cage but would would require work planning and might not be successful. To do it I was thinking that I would want a very large cage so that the pee and turds would be distributed over a larger area so the plants/dirt could handle the amount and hopefully prevent odor. Also you would have to have sufficient light for the plant. The perfect plant that is safe for suggies, easy to grow, ect. It is not something that I can attempt at the moment but maybe in the future. If you do give this a try definitely let me know how it goes so I can learn from you to be better equipped when I try it. I am thinking that there will be some trial and error before the best method is learned and there is the possibility that it wont work smoothly at all.

I don't think i'd get grass from outside since you never know what could have been sprayed on it.

I would think that would be a hassel....pee and poop would still smell....and how would you water the "grass" and not ruin the cage plus make it very damp. Even animals kept in outside cages have floors that are mostly cement..so you can HOSE it down....Buy some green fleece..and shank out once a week and then wash to re use...it is alot easier and looks pretty. By the way Rita..she could take the tray out and "cut" the grass with sissors...hey come to think of it at that time...spray mist the grass..put try in sun outside for an hour to dry..then back in cage...Naw fleece is still better

I think that the only way you could effectively grow grass in a suggie cage would be if it was an outside aviary, or an indoor one with a sky light. Between the smell, accumulation of extra matter, and the hassle of keeping it trimmed I don't think that it is worth while... It would be kinda funny though...

The reason that I played with the idea is because of how it would look. I love plants and it would look very pretty and natural if I could have grass/plant under the gliders cage instead of newspaper. I dont like the look of newspaper but have not tried fleece yet.
