Well ... It finally happened. I guess it wasn't hopeless after all. Dizzy has a buddy (although they haven't met yet). My new little girl came with the name "Squeezle", and I think I'll keep that name. Dizzy & Squeezle just sounds right together. Of course, now we have to do the Wellness and Fecal exam thang, and the Quarantine thang, and then the Introduction thang. It's killing me! I wanna know if they'll even like each other, but I know it's for the best. Right now, I'm just gonna leave the poor terrified little critter alone for a couple of days, but that's killin' me too. She did a pretty good job on her dinner, but she has absolutely no idea what mealworms or yoggie drops are for. Maybe I ought to offer her a crayon?

For any of you Newbies who are wondering what the heck is going on: There was a discussion about disagreement recently. One member posted that if we were at a party, and someone brought up the subject of crayons, it would likely lead to a debate. Which ones have the best nutritional content, which have a potassium/calcium ratio that is off, etc. It's true. You will see some heated debates about diet here. We each have our own ideas in regards to what diet is best, and will fiercely and loyally defend our preference. It sparked a rather animated discussion about crayon preference. That's what the whole crayon bit is about.

want opinions...when you get a new glider you are suppose to wait 30 days before introductions..make sure no illness.....BUT if you get a complete check up and all is fine...would you put them together OR wait to see if the new one has something that has just not shown up yet?????

Good for you guys! Congrats! Keep us posted on her settling in. It is so hard to wait, but it's what's best for them.

Depends on where they came from, in my opinion. If you know the person and the glider's history, I'd be inclined to let them meet after a clear vet check. If I wasn't sure, I'd wait.

Congratulations on finding Squeezle!!! LOVE that name!!!

It is always best, no matter where they came from, to quarantine for 30 days. And yes, Ive been there and done that. And its very difficult!!!

I finally saw Squeezle in reasonably good light last night. It looks like she might be a buttercream? When she's settled in, I'll get pics, and maybe someone can confirm this. Also, the sweet little thing only has about 3 or 4 inches of a tail! Maybe her pre-Mom forgot to put the rest of it in the pouch with her. I'll have to email and find out what happened. How can a glider lose a goodly portion of tail outside of the wild? Any guesses?

I had a glider with a partially amputated tail. This can happen if the tail's been broken and didn't heal properly, if a glider self-mutilates, if another glider attacks it..I honestly don't know about when they're joeys if mom is ever known to do that. Curious to hear what the previous owner says.

Apparently the tail was already "cropped" when pre-Mom got her. She had a companion that was not very friendly. That makes me a bit nervous about introductions to Dizzy. She'll probably be scared - With good reason! I'd probably swear off males forever. Poor sweet thing. Also, pre-Mom said that she eats mealies and crickets and such regularly, so she's probably just nervous.

um not to start anything but you would have thought the pre-mom you call it, would have told you that there was something wrong with the tail? Though that wouldn't bother me and I would probably have bought her anyways but just the fact that she didn't say anything would have made me a little upset. (what else didn't she tell you)
