I just bought two gliders (a male and female) with my dad about 3 1/2 weeks ago. They have been doing great with us and were becoming really comfortable. A week after we got them, we realize that our female, Roxie had a joey in the pouch. Now the Joey is completely out and is doing good. However, our male, Rosco has began biting since the joey, came out of the pouch. He has not been biting me, but every time he goes to my dad, he bites hard enough to break the skin. My dad lets him do it and doesn't pull away but we were wondering why this is happening all the sudden. We weren't sure if he could tell I am a female and my dad is a male and if that has something to do with why he is biting him and not me. Thanks for the help!!!

Could be it's simply because he's protecting his joey?

I wondered that too, but he has not bitten me at all, just my dad

I would assume he can tell the difference between you two, and may be more territorial around males over his joey, so that may be why he's biting your dad but not you.

Does your Dad smoke? Or do any kind of work that would make him smell different?

Yeah, he does smoke that smell is on him constantly so that was part of a]his scent they got used to right away. And I also smoke and it doesnt' seem to bother them because their not biting me. Good news though...our female roxie is doing great!!! she was playing games with us last night....just jumping back and forth between us...teasing lol. It was cute!!!

glad to hear she is doing good I think if the bitin is happenin it has to be protection
