OK - here is what you do. You only give him food that is good for him. When he gets hungry, he will eat it. You are NOT to give him any kind of sweets. You give him fruits, vegetables and protein - NOTHING ELSE.

Do you care about your glider and want him to live a long healthy life? If so - then you need to feed him properly.

Look at the list Kyro gave you above. Choose foods off that list. DO NOT GIVE HIM ANYTHING THAT ISNT ON THAT LIST. You need to start doing this today.

Also, it can be a bit overwhelming when you find out how much work these guys take. We are here to help and offer you advice, but you really must do the leg work.

he was abused in the last home and not fed proplerly

I recently was givin 2 gliders that were fed nothing but peanuts (NOT GOOD) and crickets!!!! TRUST ME when u give a glider FRESH fruis and vegies that they havent had AND SHOULD.....they will think they are in HEAVEN!!!! At least my 2 do. U can also try the meat sticks in the baby food. They LOVE those too! There are lots of things out there in the produce and baby food that they love...JUST REMEMBER...NO onion or garlic....GOOD LUCK, keep us posted.

I agree-they need companionship of their own kind. It has made such a difference with Bella and Nalla is learning much quicker that I won't hurt her. I have only had her a week and she will come to me when Bella does and climb all over my hands, arm, shoulders, head. I am so glad to have gotten another little girl

kaylieray800 - What do you want to do? Do you want to give your little guy up to someone who can give him the things he needs like vet care and glider friends?

Im not trying to be mean, but if you cant afford this glider, you really shouldnt get another one. It would be a very responsible thing and in his best interest to find him a good home.

Yes, I suggest a vet visit asap. I had a suggie who refused eating and I did not realize how serious it would get and I took her to the vet kinda too late and she died of dehydration. I am speaking out of my own experience here.So you need to really check on this little guy. Have you tried feeding him a mealworm?

wow..missed the post above before I replied. So kaylieray800, is Kyro right about you wanting to give away your baby? If yes, many here would be able to help. Please keep us posted on your baby's condition. This is very serious. He could die if he does not get proper nutrition.

kaylieray800 if u keep giving him the sweets he will not eat what is good for him. I would follow what Rita and Kyro said. Also read read and do some reading of these posts it will help.

Go to the vet and get some NUTRIGEL, this is a high vitamin and mineral supplement that gives them a huge boost and increases thier appetite, they usually love it. It will help while you are trying to get him on a new diet.
You can even mix it with his fruit and veg for a little while as it may encourage him to eat them.
I use this when in my wildlife rehabilitation.

I recently looked after a squirrel glider for a girl who said he wasnt eating, with this product and a decent diet, the vet said he was a completely different glider in that he had put on weight,was moving around better, fur was looking healthier etc.

I was reading about the nutrical, do you think it would be good to give every so often just for an extra boost or it only for gliders who aren't eating?

kaylie - do you have all the information that you need on diet? have you stopped giving the glider sweets? sweets and candy can be toxic if you are feeding them to your glider. do you want someone to take your glider for you?

oh no not cookies!! think of this as your own child. you wouldnt give a baby cookies. like munchies mom said.. honey will do the trick they love sweet things and just drizzle a bit of honey on things will help. you could also try the v8 fusion. my babies gosh darn love that. gliders have a dry food you can get from petsmart or petco. its the ONLY thing they carry for gliders. when i first got my babies id mix baby cereal with baby yogurt and put cherrys for a side snack. you may want to see what everyone else thinks about the baby cereal thing but it worked for me. i was porly educated at the time so may not be good. chicken is also another fav of my babies. please try some of these things. of course the other things above as well. good luck keep us updated
