I was wearing my new bonding pouch (Hugger Pouch from Tootles - I'm loving it Tootles...you did an AMAZING job)and it's almost time for their playtime, so I scoop one of the little fellas into my hand.
I look down and I can see that his little willy is out....no big deal, I've seen it before (The Sugar Gliders that is...I am a GAY woman....) Well anyway this time it's like half the length of his body. I had no idea it could go that long.
Anyway, he's got it clutched in his little hand and he's like putting it in and out of his tiny mouth. He was totally oblivious to the fact that he was sitting in my hand and just carried on doing his business.
Does anyone know if he was just washing it or was he pleasuring himself?

This is something to be very watchful of. Ahseahr had a very serious problem with a glider, and if I remember right, it started with Neo overgrooming his genitalia. Your glider is not a lone glider, right? Is he neutered?
Hopefully, Ahseahr will come along and fill in the details of what was going on.
I rmember way back when, I had just gotten my second glider, Dametri. Well I got him out and he had his entire manhood out. I really thought about renaming him, LOL. They do this when they go through puberty, and I have seen many males do it. Neutering usually stops this practice also. Its normal as long as they don't start chewing or irrititing the genitalia, in that case an e-collar and a trip to the vet would be in order.
8 months old is about the same as an early puberty boy. They spend quite a bit of time exploring all the new sensations!
If he finishes his explorations and it doesn't retract all the way - that can be quite serious. If his genitalia shows signs of drying out - you may need to put some KY on him, to help it retract. And, as Dizzysmom mentioned - signs of overgrooming, which can lead to Self Mutilation.
Lol, i'm sorry I couldn't get to this sooner. Yes, what you saw was perfectly normal for gliders. If you notice it too often or if the genitalia is out too long you may have to lube it up with ky jelly to help him retract it. If you notice his cloaca is swollen go to a vet immediately.
ANYWAY, if you notice it too often you can get him neutered, that should help a LOT.
Thanks for all your replies So it just looks like "Boys are being Boys" I will just have to keep my eye on the Wee Man's little willy.... ....making sure he puts it away nicely at the end!
Umm I haven't seen my boys do that but I guess that is a good thing becouse I would be saying omg what the hell are you doing . That is funny though and got you to laugh. boys with be boys I guess lmao
Is it odd to never see his genitalia at all?Weird question, I know, but everyone talks about their boys having theirs hanging out all the time, and having never seen his, I've actually wondered at times if Hoff isn't actually a girl.
Flossing...with his... *hurl* I guess being a male I'm with thehyland...but I would assume it would be relatively painful in soooooo many way to floss with you badoing...awkwarddd
Most of you already know but for the newcomers Eric has a long on going topic on this. It is interesting. You can find it at the top of the glider gossip page. It goes over alot of the questions that some may have.
This topic was started mainly because so many new owners didnt know what a glider's genitalia looked like. Some thought it was a worm - others thought it was a growth, string, etc - and tried to cut it off. Seriously...
Here is a post I just read on another forum. Its from a new glider owner:
quote:I am [censored] out, I have both of my gliders in a pouch and I was just holding it and Ipeeked in there and the male is eating something it looked like his intestines!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is Long and thin and brite red it looked at least two inches and he had it all in his hands licking it and I trie to see more or what the heck he was doing but the female about bite my hand off!! what the heck is it?????????
