I recently had to put one of my rescues to sleep due to previoues health issues. I got a new male and is doing very well with the other older female rescue. Cinnamin has been with us about a week and we suspect he is about 6 months old...he is still small and his tail still has some baby hair on it. Anyway, ever since i got him he has had a protruding genitalia. Its only half an inch or so out. I know this is common about this time of year but he has been like this for about a week...Should I be worried?

Is he messing with it? If so, he may just be behaving like an adolescent male of any species.

If you are concerned, please take him to the vet for a checkup.

Can you link us to where you read that? Honestly, Ive never heard that their genitalia could be out for 2 or 3 days. I am very interested in where that information came from.

I am a little confussed. Is his genitalia out constantly? When they go through puberty they will have it out more but it retracts. Is the genitalia black or dry? Is it swollen?
Also, at 6 months they should not have baby fur? Have you noticed any over grooming of the tail? I am wondering if what you are seeing is the new hair growing in. If you haven't had him in for a vet visit, I would encourage it. Also, this would be a good time for neutering if you are not going to be breeding them.
Hopefully this is just a coming of age issue and nothing serious. I will be saying prayers. I am very sorry about your other glider, its never easy to lose one of your pets.

thanks for the concern...actually my mom printed some stuff off one webste or another and i have 2 sugar glder books that states that. No it isnt black or dry or swollen...he doesnt do anything with it (flossing, grooming, handling) its just hangin out a bit. His tail is actually really thin. Not fluffy like an adults. He acts perfectly healthy and eats and socializes just fine. It doesnt seem to bother him at all, maybe i am just beng over cautious. He is my first male and a baby, and after what happened to my other glider i want to make sure everythings ok so he doesnt have to go through what the other one did
