So many different opinions how do I know which is the best. Should I use the BML diet, vitamins, provide dry food, how much food and how often, offer water only, how do I know that both gliders are getting their nutritional requirements, unless I video tape them eating? Here is what I been doing so far and not sure if it is the best practice. I alternate nightly with chicken, egg, meal worm or crickets. They will eat any vegetable or fruit so I offer two varieties of each daily, I sprinkly their vitamins sparily over top of everything. Sometimes I will throw in yogart, sprinkly some wheat germ. The amount I put in there at night is around 1/4 cup, most mornings it is gone. Throughout the day I leave dry kibble from Suncoast. How do I know who is eating most of the food and if both are getting the right amount from the food group? So far it seems to be a guessing game for me. Oh one more thing, would it be more healthy to get meal worms and crickets - gutload them first then feed them to the gliders?

Unfortunately, when it comes down to who is eating how much of what and getting what percentage, we just do the best we can. It's kind of like when my husband feeds my kids breakfast and then they eat lunch at school. I have no idea if they ate how they "should" but I know they're healthy...if that makes sense. With gliders, their weights, coats and demeanor are good indicators of general health that you can physically see. If one starts gaining a lot, fast or if one seems to be losing weight, then you should be concerned. Lots of us have digital kitchen or postal scales that can weigh in grams and you can easily monitor weights that way if you're worried. I feed mealworms but I personally do not gutload them. Maybe someone else can answer that one.

Gutloading is when you feed insects a high nutrient insect food before feeding them to your pets. It's like "fattening up" the insects before they get eaten (except not with fat, but with healthy things!) Mealworms are already very fatty and should be used more for treats, I've never heard of gutloading them but I guess you could. However, gutloading and feeding crickets is a good idea for a protein source. You certainly don't have to gutload them first, but it is healthy and relatively cheap. Some canned crickets and pet store crickets are already gutloaded.

I did not relize that mealworms were so fatty. The vet said Mr. Jingles weighs 98 do not recall if it was grams or what unit of measurement just remember the number
