Okay, so this has been bothering me for awhile but didn't want to bring it up but everything is discussed here when help is needed. So what the heck.

I hate cleaning toilets and it seems I am doing it all the time. When keeping the seats down they start getting moldy fast around here. In the bowl and on the underside of the seat. One of my bathrooms rarely gets used but gets icky quick. I never had this problem before gliders.

Any ideas how to slow down this process? Do you think a water softener would help? I don't want to put any of those things that hang on the bowl with God knows what is in it just in case the lid was left up and the gliders got into it.

It's humid in Florida to begin with and if your bathrooms are closed up, it can get very humid in there. I'd install ventilator fans that exhaust outside over each shower area and put them on a timer so when you are done you can hit the button and they will run for 20 min. Also your HVAC might be too powerful therefore it isnt removing humidity like it should. The best air conditioning is a slow constant running system. Dual stage/speed units are the best. They are getting better there with new units that have "comfort" controls. It never hurts to leave the windows open a crack in the bathrooms, but do keep in mind that I have my mold issues here in Texas WHEN I have the windows open. All of that crud from outside comes in and plants itself everywhere. I am a firm believer in using your HVAC blower year round to circulate air and to also bring in a percentage of filtered fresh air from outside so that your house is positively pressurized. You could also install a waterline bowl cleaner that has a bleach tablet in it. It doesnt fill the tank, just comes out from the bowl rinse when you flush.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes it can get humid in Florida. I am pretty cold natured so when it gets a little chilly here (compared to what others think) that heat goes on.

Sorry I put this post in the glider stuff. I had mixed feelings about what category it should be in.

I decided on glider stuff because I didn’t want to put stuff in the toilet that was bad for them. I thought maybe someone else had a suggestion. Like lemon juice toilet hangy things or something like that.

If you bleach where the mould is growing this will kill the mould spores and also help it not to grow back again. Bleach breaks down very quickly so if you rinse it off and dry everything again it will be safe for your gliders if you play with them in there. Once the bleach smell is gone you will know that the bleach has all gone. We use to use bleach to clean out frog enclosures and you know that frogs are very sensitive to any chemicals cause they breath through there skins. We alwaya rinsed them out and placed them out in the sun. Unfortunatly you cannot put your toilet out in the sun but the bleach will help. I don't like using chemicals to clean but sometimes you have to to kill off some bacteria and mould is one of them.

I don't think bleach is the best thing to use to get rid of mold. If you look up "using bleach to kill mold", i think you can find better methods stop mold. Bleach is great to sanitize things but i don't think its good to use on mold.

Actually I like isopropyl alcohol best for killing mold. Living in the woods we get some "plant life" in our house too. I had to wipe down all of my books with alcohol. I'm not sure how safe that would be for suggies though. Anyone else know?

I don't know, alcohol will leave a residue, you can smell it. I would maybe wipe down with really hot water after using alcohol to remove the residue. It does work on mildew!
