BML for me. I've also tried the leadbeaters mix but I like the BML a whole bunch more. Everyone I've talked to recommends BML. =PP

I feed BML as well. I looked into HPW but I think i'd have to order some of those ingredients. I can get all the ingredients for BML in local stores, thats why I chose it.

Glider University is NOT to be trusted.

Feed what makes sense to you - there are many approved diets and they all have their pros and cons. We continue to learn more and more about gliders - including their dietary needs. No one diet is exactly right.

I feed HPW, because it was partly developed in Australia and made for Marsupials, so that makes sense to me. The rest of the diet was developed and finalized in America with collaboration of a vet I really respect. So - I chose that one.

I feed the Priscilla Price diet, which is basically fruits, veggies, protein but I freeze it in convenient portions. Mine really enjoy it. I might try HPW one of these days, I'm not sure what all it entails. BML smelled really gross to me and my gliders wouldn't touch it.

I tend to agree with Valkyriemome. I spoke with at least 7 different people in length who own Gliders before I bought mine, in attempt to get the most information and most correct information I could.

I got a lot of really helpful suggestions and guidance. And for the most part, they all agreed on things like cage size, toys, how to find an appropriate breeder nearby who I could trust, bonding and handling... etc. But do you know, almost every single one of them had their own completely different theories on what was the "best diet"? Almost every breeder feeds something different, even if slightly different, and they all will swear up and down that its the best diet out there.

Seriously, the only thing that I could gather from talking to everyone is that you need a balanced diet of ABOUT 50% protein, 25% vegetables and 25% fruit. Most people keep a staple food in the cage at all times. They need fresh water as often as needed (Mine need a bottle clean and refill every other day). You need to maintain a calcium/phosphorus ratio of 2:1 and all diets need to provide variety for the sake of mental stimulation for your glider.

Do the research, find out what sounds healthiest and best for your babies, and stick to that. I have yet to find any reliable source that says they have perfected the glider diet. So it's really just a matter of what you believe is right for your animals.

That's it in a nutshell. We're all flying by the seat of our pants here, but you can research and come to your own logical conclusions.

actually, the "high protein wambaroo" supplement was originally for bats, not marsupials. My guess is that someone figured out they could sell more of it if they changed the name.

As for BML, it's just a variation of the diet used in the Taronga zoo in Sydney, which is then just a variation of the diet used by the Healesville Sanctuary near Melbourne. So, if you want authentic, the real mix is much simpler than the Americanized versions.

my little guys love the HPW and i think the most important thing about a diet is whether or not they will eat it - besides I think its the easiest to keep/make and you can make a months supply all at the same time easily - i find it difficult enough to keep fresh fruits and veggies in the house for thier diet as it is - its nice to have something that is easy and full of protein that they really love to eat
but like has been stated earlier experiment see what they like or dont like and what works best for you - no matter what it will be a better diet than just pellets and apples like PPP reccomends you kind of have to take all the information out here with a grain of salt - its impossible to please everyone - especially regarding the diet
