How do you guys clean the sandpaper track from the Wodent Wheel? It gets really filthy and smelly, but if you use hot water or scrub it hard, the sand comes off.

Use warm soapy water. The sand paper is a " wet" sand paper and is made to get wet. I use a tooth brush to scrub it and I have some sand paper for over a year. Are you useing the right sand paper?

it might not be the same as the wet sandpaper. You can buy the wet sandpaper at any hardware store and cut it to fit any wheel, its usually black or dark grey in color. When you go to buy it make sure it says for wet sanding.

I'm glad I read this. I was just going to order the sandpaper track. I'll buy it from the store instead.

Yeah its a lot cheaper and you get a lot more so if you dont want to clean it just throw away and put a new piece in, you can also use a 400 grit sandpaper that is really fine and can be used in the wheel.

Do you paste the sandpaper onto a track, or is it strong enough to just cut out and put in the wheel?

Yeah, I'd like to know how to make it stick myself. Just ordered a wodent wheel and I'm going to need something to put in it for my boys' nails. They need some work but I'm too anxious about trimming them so I'm hoping the wheel will work.

If this is your first wodent wheel, I would suggest just buying the track that goes with it to be on the safe side. You can wash the track in warm soapy water.

Dahlia, the trim tracks work best if the nails are short to begin with. If you can't do it yourself, maybe your vet can, it shouldn't be too expensive. It surely is a struggle sometimes! I have one whose nails I need to clip every few months, he doesn't spend as much time on the wheel as the other two.

For the ones that are made for the Wodent, I throw them in the dishwasher with the rest of their stuff.

I use two, I rotate them. Just wash them with hot water and soft brush and then let dry. I rotate them and leave the one out, out side so I can air dry for a long time. I re-did my wodent and don't use the that kind of trimmer any more. I just make them. If you look at my album you can see what I did and used.

I soak them in the bathtub in hot bleach water solution, rinse them well, and then let them dry out in the sunshine. I use an old toothbrush to scrub the plastic mesh The pee smell is still present, but this helps a lot. If you do this, use a 10% bleach solution, and rinse it very well.

What I have discovered is, that amount that I use the trimmers and need to clean them, the stitching starts to fall apart pretty quickly. My hubby and I are trying to come up with an alternative solution that I can sell with the Wodents on my site...so far, I got nothin' any different from what's already out there.

I soak mine for about an hour in warm water and then scrub 'em with a vegetable brush. Works like a charm. After three or four scrubbings I do replace them with wet sandpaper from Home Depot though.

I recommend a roll of 320 to 400 grit 2-3/4" sand paper . You can either reuse your old mesh track or buy new mesh at the hardware store. Just replace the sand paper every two months or so.
