I got khloe( a lil over a yr old) about 2 months ago, my friend couldnt afford her anymore. but she is iffy when it comes to ppl...she well poke her head out of her pouch and watch u but she wont come on unless its dark and quiet. if u come in the room and shes out she runs to her pouch. someone tld me its normal, some gliders just dont warm up 2 ppl. lona is about 3-4 months old. and shes a lil show off she well come out and stare at you than she well get in her wheel spin around stop look at you and start again stop and stare than do it again. if u say go lona go she goes faster and faster.its funny/cute. she likes to hang upside down when she eats which is adorable. she likes for u to talk to her. she well lick stuff off ur fingers and when its gone she well stare at u "like hello get more" but shes iffy when it comes to holding her she crabs and bites. but the question is about does some gliders just not bond wit ppl? just thought i would tell a lil bout my lona!

Yes, that happens but it sounds like there's hope with her. Have you tried tent time or anything else to try bonding? It is very rare to find a glider that likes being held so don't let that discourage you. Keep feeding treats by hand, talking to her and try tent time. Do you have a bonding pouch? A few other things that may help are a) having a dimmer light in the room for when she's out playing. She may just start showing off a little more and b) a buddy. They are colony animals and really do better when they're not alone, especially if she doesn't get any playtime outside her cage.

It took a yr for my first glider to stop biting and crabbing and his mate was a sweety from day one. Then one day he just stopped biting and he is my special boy, I can pick him up any way I want to, he lets he hold him in my hands where the others will come to me but prefer not let to be picked up. Devildog is 5 yrs old now ao we have had one horrible yr and 4 wonderful yrs. just keep loving and trying she may be like Devildog and one day she could be your favorite. I have 11 gliders now but this week end the family I rescued from Petco are going to a new loving home with CHoffman. She can give the time that I can't and all suggies deserve a loving family to spend time with them.
Good luck and hopefully she will start trusting you

oh ok.. ya i been told it takes ALOT of time sometimes. some gliders bond real quick and some takes awhile. i havent tried tent time cause i dont exactly understand what it is, is it just a small camping tent that you use? and i just got a bonding pouch bout a week ago. gonna start this weekend with that. im also gonna start taking their pouch out of their cages and take them into the bathroom and sit in there with them and HOPE they come out of thier pouches and meet each other and play. is it safe to drag them out of their cage? not in a way to hurt them but to easily take them out (WITH A GLOVE ON) LOL, it hurts when they bite

Yes, setting up a tent would be just like taking them in the bathroom. Only, a tent is a little smaller so they are almost forced to interact with you. It's just a small safe enclosed environment for you guys to interact and play. Wherever you choose to do this (tent or bathroom) make sure to take lots of toys and treats! If you do choose the bathroom make sure to baby proof it. Remove razors and other sharp objects, keep the toilet seat down, stuff like that.

Instead of grabbing them out of the cage, try taking them out while they are still sleeping in their pouch! Just unhook the entire pouch and take it with you to the bathroom or tent. You can gently coax them out with treats or roll the pouch down like a sock until they have to come out. Once they are out of their pouch, hide it or sit on it so they can't go back in!!

Here is a picture of when I rolled down the pouch to get Panda to come out:

It's best to not grab them out of their cage, no matter how gently. This may make them fearful of you AND your hands which you don't want! Eventually, they will trust you enough so that when you open their cage they will probably hop right to you!

I hope this has been helpful. Good luck, take lots of pics, and happy bonding!!!

Some glider just don't bond. Or I should say it takes a very long time, patiance, patiance and more patiance. I believe the more you interact with them the more they will get use to you. You could try yoggies, meal worms, dried fruit, grasshoppers, crikets, from the pet store not from you yard. The hamster ball I would only use for a hamster. There little toes could get hurt running in the ball. Good luck.

Toys:

Little Tykes toys for toddlers. (Like the noahs ark and jungle toys) They make noise and are fun for them to climb.

Barrel of Monkeys are a must! :) Hang the monkeys all over the cage. Hang the barrel to the side of the cage (fun to stick treats in!)

Tons of fleece ropes strung around for them to crawl on.

Little cat balls that have the bells in them (Just make sure they never get the bells)

Things like that. Pretty much all those plastic toddler toys are fine for them.

My guys also like the plastic flowers and pretty much any toddler toy. You can find some awesome ones at yard sales or Goodwill.

Here's a really good thread on Toys:

Here's how I feed my gliders Crickets. They can't get out of this but my gliders get in it after I remove the little plastic door. I put this in the bottom of my cage and my gliders go nuts.
