we are proud owners of 4 suggies... we have had them for over a year.. 2 boys Cosmo(3), Tigger(2),Gizmo(2)(Tiggers twin) and Cherrie(1) our little girl... we aquired them from a friend who was grossed out when the boys killed and ate there parents..The boys have all been neutered..A few days ago our little suggie Gizmo was acting realy slugish and moody.. he was layimg at the bottom of the cage and after handiling for a bit he perked right up and seemed to be fine.. The next morning we found him balled up in his pouch.. he had died and his twin had scratched all the fur off his head..We are devistated at our loss.. This came on sudden and there was no warning.. up to that point he accted as he has always....what could have happened and what can i do to protect our other babies ?

I personally have no clue, but I would suggest taking all the remaining suggies to the vet for overall wellness exams and fecals. One of the more experienced posters can hopefully help you out more!

I'm so sorry for your loss. :( There's no way for us to know what happened and I agree the others should be seen ASAP. Do you know if his parents were related by chance? If they were in-bred, he could have had internal problems you'd never know about. Anything we say, unfortunately, would be speculation. The only way to know for sure would be to have a necropsy done but it sounds like maybe it has been too long for that. I am sorry, though. I know it can be so hard.

I'm so sorry. Losing our babies is so hard for us. The only way to know what happened would be to get a necropsy done. And since you have other gliders, this would be highly advisable. Please take the other gliders to the vet for a check up and fecals to make certain they are ok.

Gliders are so good at hiding illnesses. Most of the time, when they show signs of being ill - they are very, very sick little animals.
