Yet another person on this forum was devastated this morning when they discovered one of their beloved babies had escaped their cage in the middle of the night and had drowned in the toilet.

I personally, don't think I could handle this ever happening to one of mine. As a result, I've become absolutely paranoid about not only my toilet but about the latches on all the doors to my flight cage. It's nothing for me to even get up in the middle of the night because I'll wake up and I can't remember if I latched everything back. I won't even allow anyone else in my family to use my bathroom (particularly my young nephews) as I worry about them forgetting to put the lid down.

I wanted to post this as a reminder to take this seriously. Gliders are notoriously curious and if they get out, unchecked, they WILL go everywhere and explore everything. This inevitably leads to a bathroom with it's enticing counters and tall shower doors or curtains.

Many people with gliders have heard to watch out for toilet lids left up but I wonder how many take it truly seriously. I'm posting this as a reminder that it is indeed VERY serious and has killed quite a few gliders.

PLEASE be aware, and take the steps to ensure this doesn't happen to your furry kids.

It has been brought up many times but unfortunately I don't think it can ever be brought up enough!!! I am VERY VERY demanding about the toilet seats. Luckily, it's just the boyfriend and myself at our house and he has been very good about the toilet seat. We also don't have a lot of people over. When we DO have people over I will literally stand by the bathroom door, if they haven't put the seat down, they get in trouble!!

Really....it's so important and honestly SO EASY to do!!!!

Othere places to check are sink, tub and shower drains. ARe they covered?

ANY standing water need to be covered or drained.

Yes I just posted a thread just about 2 weeks ago because of all the new glider owners and all the playtime in the bathrooms. On that post someone had just saved their baby from the toilet. I check mine all day and night and NEVER leave standing water anywhere. This is truly sad.
