so my friends sugar glider gizmo bites alot. When they first got him he was so sweet and lovable crawled all over them just great but i guess now hes being a pain biting being mean all that. I told them he might be sick, or lonely bcuz he is by himself. They bought him from the PPP and they told them to stick there finger in his jaw when he bites but that doesnt sound right? Any ideas on what to do? I just really dont wanna see this guy be rehomed for something that can be fixed, but were both newbies so I dont know.

how old is he now? it might be from him growing into that "teen" stage. i wouldnt hurt to have another glider companion. in fact, thats probably the best idea. tell your friend not to flick him on the nose or blow on him or any of that mumbo-jumbo. give him space and offer him treats from your hand to try and get him past biting.

Pretty much anything and everything that PPP told you was an absolute lie, including that horribly inhumane way of stopping them from biting. Gliders are not cuddly little domesticated pets. I mean they are adorable, but very much wild. Biting is something gliders due, but you can deter them from doing it by making a psst sound and promoting licking instead of biting. However, they really should be in a group of two or more. So please look into getting him a friend, and on a proper diet.

ok, if he is losing hair on his black star-stripe on his face that means he is maturing. the best thing to do is get him nuetered and get him a friend. the smell goes down, no babies, and he has a friend. its a win-win situation.

Nope. Dr. Brust has a video that supports sticking your finger or thumb in their mouth and stretch their jaw open. So that they correlate biting with pain.

Gliderpedia says to put your thumb UNDER their jaw and hold them.
