You need to take those pellets away NOW. There's absolutely zero reason for your glider to have them. The longer she eats them, the more you're shortening her lifespan and decreasing her health.
If you took her pouch away, what is she sleeping in? Pouches keep them warm and give them comfort. There are things you can do to work on pouch protection. Per my own experience, lone gliders tend to be more pouch protective than gliders in duos, trios, and colonies.
Getting a buddy for your glider is a great plan though. However, age doesn't matter. It's the size. Adopting a glider from Craigslist, Hoobly, and Kijiji are great ways to go through with this plan of action. All of my gliders have come from Craigslist and they've all been healthy.
I highly recommend getting gliders from there for the following reasons:
1. Gives gliders in need of a loving forever home that chance.
2.Gives gliders a chance at a proper way of life.
3. I firmly believe it's better to adopt a glider without a loving family over purchasing from a breeder because purchasing from a breeder only guarantees one thing: more gliders coming into the world and, thus, more gliders who shortly thereafter are homeless.
Also, getting a glider 8wks oop means he will be alone for an indeterminate amount of time until he becomes relative in size to your female. If she's already showing signs of depression now, waiting for an indeterminate amount of time is really asking for trouble.
On top of that, he'll need to be neutered. Again, I suggest adopting elsewhere.
If you'd like me to help you locate gliders in need of homes, shoot me a PM and I'll be more than willing to help.
Also, there's nothing you can do, really, for a glider already showing signs of depression. Been there. Done that. With three gliders. No fun. Just do what you're doing, keep an eye out, and try and find a glider close to her size to adopt and go through quarantine and intros.
Good luck, and if you need anything, again, PM me.
