I ordered Wombaroo Protein and Australian Bee Pollen for the HPW diet and will be switching Dahlia as soon as I receive it :) For now, I've been feeding her a large variety of fruits and veggies (alot of fruits from my local froyo place) :D and like you guys said, her stomach has been doing fine. She also really loves scrambled eggs and meal worms. I still haven't taken away the pellets, but I will as soon as her new diet begins.

I also took away her cage pouch last night :( I realize it's sad.. but she had become so pouch protective, it was getting increasingly stressful on both of us. This morning she was so much friendlier, and I hope it helps us bond since the only time she knows she can have pouch time is when she's with me.

Now-- Lastly, I have been searching, and searching, and searching for another sugar glider for her. I live in TN and it's been really difficult finding any reputable breeders--or any for that matter that I feel I can trust and purchase with faith. And because I'm so new-- I don't feel rescueing or adopting an older glider. I've found a glider roughly 7 hrs away from my place, in Virginia, and he will be ready for pickup 9/30 at 8wks OOP. I'm so worried about Dahlia though.. I can tell lately she's been getting more and more.. depressed. She's just not as playful as she was, she's beginning to lose her appetite, and when she's sleeping, she cuddles with my fingers and almost whimpers in her sleep. I love this little girl to death, so can anyone give me any sort of advice on how to comfort her until at the very least I get her new friend? She's with me nearly all day every day [even at walmart] and last night I woke up at 4 am just to play with her in the tub.. even though I had class at 8am.. I just, obviously, can't do that every night.. :(

Anyways-- give me some input! and thanks again everyone! I hope I can get some great pictures of her soon, so you guys can see her. Also, I'm thinking of names for the new little boy. Jono, Rhino, Casper.. and someone threw out the name hippo. haha-- name ideas anyone? :D

You need to take those pellets away NOW. There's absolutely zero reason for your glider to have them. The longer she eats them, the more you're shortening her lifespan and decreasing her health.

If you took her pouch away, what is she sleeping in? Pouches keep them warm and give them comfort. There are things you can do to work on pouch protection. Per my own experience, lone gliders tend to be more pouch protective than gliders in duos, trios, and colonies.

Getting a buddy for your glider is a great plan though. However, age doesn't matter. It's the size. Adopting a glider from Craigslist, Hoobly, and Kijiji are great ways to go through with this plan of action. All of my gliders have come from Craigslist and they've all been healthy.

I highly recommend getting gliders from there for the following reasons:
1. Gives gliders in need of a loving forever home that chance.
2.Gives gliders a chance at a proper way of life.
3. I firmly believe it's better to adopt a glider without a loving family over purchasing from a breeder because purchasing from a breeder only guarantees one thing: more gliders coming into the world and, thus, more gliders who shortly thereafter are homeless.

Also, getting a glider 8wks oop means he will be alone for an indeterminate amount of time until he becomes relative in size to your female. If she's already showing signs of depression now, waiting for an indeterminate amount of time is really asking for trouble.

On top of that, he'll need to be neutered. Again, I suggest adopting elsewhere.
If you'd like me to help you locate gliders in need of homes, shoot me a PM and I'll be more than willing to help.

Also, there's nothing you can do, really, for a glider already showing signs of depression. Been there. Done that. With three gliders. No fun. Just do what you're doing, keep an eye out, and try and find a glider close to her size to adopt and go through quarantine and intros.

Good luck, and if you need anything, again, PM me.

yeah, the only reason I've kept them in there is because she doesn't have much of a protein choice, even though I've been making her scambled eggs with mealworms as treats. I don't think she's been eating them anyways though, because there are still 5 pellets in there, with just a few with tiny bite marks on them. I just want to make sure she will have anything to keep her protein up until I get the Wombaroo kit, which should just be in a few days.

I wish I had read this sooner.. I've already put down my deposit for him, and the owner and I have already made arrangements for when and how I will pick him up. I was under the impression that the younger the glider was, the easier it would be to bond with another glider. Dahlia is still just a baby, and I think she's only 3 weeks older than the other glider. I am too scared of trying to bond with an older glider.. Dahlia is my first one, and even though I got her at 8 wks, she's still a complete handful trying to bond with her. She sleeps in a topless cup thing that hangs on the side of the cage with this blanket/toy. (its like a rabbit whose body is a blanket) As long as she can see who is coming at her, she doesn't crab or freak out, and the blanket is much easier to get her out of.
I've been playing with her in the bathtub every night and she loves playing with my anklets. She's been very very nippy lately though. it starts with licking and then some nips, and randomly she tries to stick my entire finger in her mouth and bites. Then she gets under my nails with her teeth and tries to chew them off. I know she's not doing it out of anger, and at first I thought it was tasting, but I'm not so sure anymore. Maybe out of boredom or curiousity. Is there any way I can get her to stop? I'm just worried when she gets older its eventually going to hurt and or actually break skin.

ok.. I'll go ahead and take the pellets out.. I was just worried since I'm basically just guessing and giving her small amounts of everything to chose from. I'm just happy she's finally eating her veggies, and for the most part eats a bit of everything every night.

Until you start a new diet, at least having 25% fruits, 25% veggies and 50% protein nightly is a great start. :) Just glad you are looking into her best interests. That's all a good suggie parent can do.
