This is Clwyd. Tomorrow it will be one week since I got him. He seems so much bigger than Luci. Is it common for the male to be bigger than the female? When the quarantine is over and they're introduced, I'll get some side by side pictures of them. I hope I post this correctly.

Gliders are pretty much like people and come in various shapes and sizes. My Chester is almost a year old and he's about the size of an adult glider. Dixie is 7 months old and she's still relatively small, while Athena is 4 months old and she's almost as big as Chester! So I don't think males are necessarily bigger than females, it's just the way those particular gliders are designed.

I have to ask, are you planning on neutering Clwyd during the quarantine process? If not, I would recommend it so that he and Luci don't meet each other by starting a family.

He's a cutie! BTW, how do you pronounce his name, phonetically? I find myself sitting here trying to say his name out loud when I see the spelling.

Like dpatters said in his post, now is the time to neuter! Gliders reproduce very quickly and you will soon be overwhelmed. Plus, breeding gliders is not for the faint of heart. There are many very sad posts on here regarding rejected joeys - which if breeding, you have to be prepared for both mentalyy and financially.

I agree on the neutering 100%! Better for him, you and his mate!

I love his forehead circle- he is super cute!

I need to find a vet who can do it first. The exotic vet in the next town has never neutered one, and I don't want mine to be the first. He didn't know of any vets in our area that does it--it's basically cats, dogs, alpacas, chickens, horses, and cattle out here. Apparently there aren't many sugar gliders that grace the office until they're extremely obese (one got stuck in his little hamster house and couldn't get out) or are near death. Otherwise, they've been single gliders so neutering never came up for the people there. Next time I make the journey up to Austin I'll check with the vets there.

Mine are both 13 weeks old and the girl is definitively rounder than the male.
