I don't know if it's because the weather is changing and night gets earlier or diet change is the issue but Chip has been sleeping all day and most of the night he doesn't want to play yesterday he only wanted to come out during the day he doesn't play in his cage until like after 12 a night so idk what to do he looks and seems sad and just wants to be held I don't think it's a health issue but he has evil in his eyes at night it isn't the I love you look anymore it's the go ahead touch me and I'll rip you apart look. What should I do?

It's filtered through my fridge this has never happened before even when he was little he always drank he drinks water like theres no tomorrow I really hope he's okay also his fur looked better on the pellet diet than it does now on the hpw? He only been on it since Thursday but before that he was on eggs and baby food I think I made him like this shoul I just switch him back to pellets and fruits and veggies I don't know what to do he takes treats and everything so he's okay health wise but he isn't acting right he's up now but I tried to play with him and he leaped at me angry. I'm so afraid to get bit bit he has never ever bit me! I don't know what to do he was just at the vet should I take him back I'll wait a lil and see if he drinks I'll pick up apple juice Tom and mix some of it in his water if he isn't drinking by Tom! I don't like this he's like my child

I'm very sorry that your sugar glider is acting this way. There could be many reason why his behavior could be acting up. He could be lonely, doesn't like his food, he might not even like his cage. It's a good idea to take him to the vet. Try to find another buddy soon for him though. Check if he's dehydrated. I found this on the site for you! Maybe it'll help! :)

I'm not an expert, but keep in mind that he is getting liquids from the friuts and veggies that he eating. Also Candy has an awsome website with a spreadsheet on it to help calculate to ca:ph ratios for the different diets out there. He site is:
www.gliderkids.com
go to the diet calculator and put in what you're feeding your baby, and the spreadsheet will tell you the ratios. It's made things so much easier, cause like you, I couldn't for the life off me figure out the math for the ratios. Where are you located and where are you willing to travel for a freind for your little guy?

it sounds like he's going through depression. My glider Dahlia didn't become that extreme, but she did sleep more and played less only a few weeks after I got her. I was planning on getting another glider-- but it wasn't until it hit that point that I felt desperate to get her a companion. After she hit that point-- I still played with her and continued to try to bond with her... and it was really hard to regain the bond we had the first weeks I had her. I felt like everyday we'd either take 1 step forward or 2 steps back.. but it slowly improved.. and now that she has a friend, she is much happier.

ps. www.sweet-sugar-gliders.com/ssg-complete-hpw-diet.html has GREAT fruit and vegetable smoothies. It makes it easier than having to calculate it yourself... I really don't recommend just giving a whatever mix of fruits and veggies..

What state are you in maybe we can point you to a rescue that may have a buddy available. My gliders dont drink much at all, they get alot of liquid in their fruit & vegi's as opposed to pellets that have no moisture.

Try taking him in the bathroom at night after it is glider proofed and just letting him run, jump and play. Try giving him new toys every few nights so he isnt bored at night. I find it easiest to take my gliders pouch out of the cage around 9 pm while they are still sleeping then take them to the play room and get them out of the pouch, less stress when they arent as bonded to you. Remember the day to them is like night to you how often do you get up in the middle of the night in the mood to play.

Do you have him up a lot in the day time? He may not be getting enough sleep. Even in the bonding pouch. He has had a lot of changes to get used to. A new home, a new person, new food, then change food. You are doing the right thing trying to get him on a "good" diet. Give it some time. You might offer some of what he was eating before until he gets used to the new diet.

Also, gliders are nocturnal. They don't play during the day. Playtime should be at night. I never would even use the bonding pouch during the day. That is when they want to sleep.

No he sleeps all day. We've been good buddies for 8 months now this new behavior started when I change things to better his life he gets up around 7 and doesn't stop until 5:30 am when I leave for work. I myself am pretty nocturnal lol so it's easy for us to play I don't take him
Out during the day unless he wakes up! This is what typically happens I leave for work at 5:30 am and come home at 3pm from work sometimes I go straight home sometimes I go to class. When I come home I check on him and somedays he'll just open his eyes see me and cuddle back into a ball but other days I'll open the cage to check on him and he'll get up and out of his home and will smell me and than put his hand on mine and I'll show him his bonding pouch and he'll just walk into it no bribing no food nothing just go inside it so for him to want nothing to do with me is bothering me beyond belief and him not drinking is scaring me

Thank you guys my vet said he's fine that since most his diet is fluids and it's deffinitly the night getting earlier. Last night he played all day woke me up at 5am like he always does my little alarm clock and then goes to sleep once I'm up so that's good that he played all night and he drank some too so everything is fine

Glad to hear he's doing good! FYI, when I changed mine from the pellets to the HPW they def started drinking less water. Lots of fluid in fruits and veggies. I blend them and follow the recipes so the calculating is done for me.
My three have also started getting up almost two hours later - I do think it's because of the change of season. They did the same thing last year:)

I just wanted to throw in that I thought you were supposed to feed 1 TABLEspoon of veggies and 1 TABLEspoon of fruits per glider with HPW.

One of the places I saw the recipe and feeding instructions was here:
