the boys are finally in their pvc cage! its not complete yet since we still have to make the base it sits on and decide on what is the best drop tray to use(we will have to use 2 small pans). one door also needs to be re done since the little brats can escape >.< lol. we are also planning on making a mini drop tray under their food area but that is a project for later. i used pictures of catmans cage to make mine i loved the idea of having a pvc pipe go down the center of the cage like a tree then have branches/pvc pipe coming out of it. the mesh floor is removable for easy cleaning. we had to make lots of cuts because of all the pvc joints we put in. the cage was designed to give me as many different options as possible. the best thing about the pvc cage is that even though i spent around $200(will have to add everything up later) on the cage i can easily repair any damages, change the size if for some reason i had to have a smaller cage (or make it bigger lol)and my old small cage cost about the same amount i spend on my huge pvc cage. i design the cage with the gliders in mind so its the perfect cage for them. the time i spend cleaning the cage wont change a whole lot since i clean different sections of the cage everyday anyway,the boys went crazy last night marking their cage i had forgotten what their musk smelled like since the last time they did it was over a year ago when i first got them.
my bed room is very messy right now since i have their old cage still in here and i had to move the big chest of books and the little chest of tarot cards that was against that wall and the shelves for my cat figurines and Buddha shrine that the gliders took over will have to be moved so the cage can go against the wall and put in another spot on the wall.
rune did well with the change but vash sulked for awhile sleeping between my pillows (or the hole in my big pillow) or sitting on top of the curtains for a while instead of taking his nap in his pouch.

their old cage was nice but once i put stuff in there its very small and limits what toys i can use and their stealth wheel cant fit through the door.
ill update with more info about the cage if im forgetting something. any suggestions for the cage or toys i can make for them would be great!i stopped at the doller store yesterday and have some stuff to make toys with.

Looks like a glider's castle. It is huge, what are the dimensions? Also can you explain how you secured all the climbing bars.

by climbing bars do you mean the pvc that is connected only to the center pvc pipe. those are held by screws(thats what the whole cage is held together with)we left some spots where we put pvc joints open to be used now or in the future to add more branches.

That is terrific! My girls love their pvc cage, and the pvc branches (exactly what I call them-the pvc center pipe and pvc branches are like a mini tree right?)give them tons of climbing room. I love your curved branches! How did you ever get that done? Can you post a closeup of them? I just have the straight branches going everywhere in my cage, but would love to know how you did yours! Also I used oil tray pans for my drop trays-I have two of them and they work perfect. I found them at home depot or lowes.

All I can say say is WOW I thought my pvc cage was big but your cage makes mine look tiny and crap I anm very impressed you did a fantastic job I am jealous.Your gliders are spoiled good for you!

i was messing around with some scrap pvc and joints and came up with the branches. since the end isnt connected to anything it bounces a little when they jump on it(kinda like a real branch). i can easily change the design of the branches anytime i want so they shouldnt get easily board with this cage and it was a cheap way to fill up empty space in the cage. if you want bigger pictures of the branches just click on the photobucket link in my first post.

one of the reasons i wanted it so big is because we will be on vacation for 2 weeks in the spring/summer and dont know how much out of cage time they will get while im gone but now i feel better knowing they have their stealth wheel and a huge cage(rune and vash argue sometimes so they need to have their own space lol)
it took many weeks to get it done since my dad could only help on weekends(along with doing other things). the blizzard helped a lot since he worked from home. he is great with building stuff, i told him how i wanted the cage and he helped figure out how to make it work
thanks for all the compliments i was wonderin how it would look in my room since it isnt a pretty metal cage but i think it looks much nicer then any cage lol. its also more eye catching when people see this huge cage in the room and wonder what im keeping in it XD

a trapped a wild kitty in the cage dont let that sweet face fool you (the boys were napping so they werent in any danger and she wouldnt stay out of the cage)

just cleaned the cage for the first time and it wasnt that bad. with their old cage if i didnt wipe down their food area everyday it would get really icky. it was also hard to really tell what was dirty because of the coloring(speckled),it was also very narrow(no room for a glider kitchen)so the food was all over the cage. with this cage there was barely any mess probably because of all the space and the mess that fell through and hit the pvc branches was easy to clean but once we get a mini drop tray under it i wont have to worry about that mess.
im also not seeing the usual mess on my carpet near my door, their food area used to be on the side of the cage closest to my door but now its on the other side of the cage and so far no mess on my carpet. yay! they do run around my room but there is no reason(besides their food area)for that mess to be there when there is no mess like that anywhere else in my room that they play more often.

Nice cage. I got my pans from tractor supply. Thy have several size pans for people who build thier own cages. You might find 2 that would work. The biggest 1 is 36x30. Hope that helps.
