I cried at work when I read this. I remember all of your.post about him. With my current situation with my glider I've been crying a lot but youre story touched my heart and helped me be strong for my baby, the best we can do is loe them when we have them and tryout best to keep them healthy and happy, I'm so sorry you had to go through this and that bandiit had to go the way he did. I, sure he was happy aging you there with him in the end, I can only pray I will be able to hold my babies when they pass away. My thoughts are with you. I know your in a rough situation and I want you to know you r not alone. Give all your love to your other glider and know your a great glider mom.

That looks just like it, but I bought mine on ebay, through that exact same seller. It's the black vein style, but the thing I've always wondered is if it's normal for their pee to etch and eat the finish at the bottom of the cage. It's gotten a little rusty, so I've been covereing it with puppy pads. Does this sound like the knock off to you...?

I just got done reading this, and it made me cry, because many of those things sounded exactly like how Bandit went. It started with little seizures, that got worse and worse, then they became easier, but he was less and less "awake". At first I hoped he was just sleeping, or tired from seizing so much, but I had to realize that he was actually fading... I started to cry even more when I realized that his tonge was sticking out, and that thick mucous was comming out of his mouth, and he was throwing up what little he had been able to eat before. He even started biting his tonge, like he didn't even realize it, and it started to bleed.

When we brought him to the vet, he had pee on him, and his claws had a thin coating of poo on them, and he made no efforts to even clean himself. Before the vet had even examined him, this deeply disturbed me, since I knew Bandit was so clean when it came to his own hygine...

And the thing that hurt me the most, when I explained to the vet, because of his history, was that Bandit, when I found him, all he wanted to do was cuddle, and to be held... It wasn't like him, he was always so independed, and hand-shy... he never really wanted to cuddle... and he never made content nursing sounds or tried to groom me... but when I had him in the pouch, as we drove to the vet, he just kept crying, this soft little cry, like he was saying "help me.. it hurts so much..."

First off, I am so sorry for your loss, but he knew love from you during his lifetime.

Do you have the results from the necropsy yet?

Super weird question... since this news on the arsenic/lead laced apple juice which has enough ppm (parts per million) to harm a 150lb adult in it are on the markets... maybe a huge stretch... and not likely, but curious- do they in the necropsy test for lead and arsenic since they are both sadly found in many foods in our modern world... I'm just wondering what they test for all...

So sorry for your loss and that you had to be witness to Bandits pain. But, at the same time, you put his comfort and needs first and I am sure he died knowing he was loved. I too have a PPP that lived almost the same. Except he is doing great and when I put a pouch in his cage, I swear he sighed when he got in it. After the first day, he was coming to me. But, what worries me is he never makes any noise at all.!

I will say a pray for you and your family!

Don't know. Can you post a picture of your cage? Especially the area I posted pics of? My daughter said that HQ had said someone made a knoxkoff that had bad /toxic paint. I know the majority of the cages on Ebay are being manufactured In China. I know this because I asked. I'm not saying they are using toxic paint on purpose or that their workmanship is shoddy but I choose to pay a little more and buy from thereal manufacturer. We got ours last weekend. We first had this onewww.ebay.com/itm/XLarge3-Level-Ferret-Chinchilla-Sugar-Glider-Cage-2997-/230704513310?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b70f811e and it had a few small rust spots when we got it. I contacted the company and they just sent me some of the powder coating powder to paint over the rust. The rust spread quickly. I loved the cage until it started rusting. In my opinion now, it is a hunk of junk as far as being for gliders. My bird now resides in it.

I guess my post must not have worked or something, because it's a bunch of quotes..

Any way, this is the one I have, from the same seller
www.ebay.com/itm/Large-3-Level-Ferret-Chinchilla-Sugar-Glider-Cage-0487-/230706990379?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b7354d2b

It doesn't have the double bar that you are showing, and it is rusting at the bottom where they pee.

I've always wondered why the bottom didn't have a plastic liner... =/

That I believe is the knock off. How long ago did you get it? When I was looking for cages last month, I did contact that seller in particular and ask where their cages were made. He said China. I'm not even sure if it would be a cage problem. Maybe Bandit ate some rust? Either way, I hope you get the answer soon. My daughter is sittinghere telling me that HQ had on their website that there are knock-offs like the economy cage which is the one we and you have. She said to go to Suncoast sugar gliders to see what it says. She doesn't like getting on any site that doesn't include games and rarely coes here or I'd have you talk to her.
quote:

I wasn't on here in December either... so let me extend my belated sympathies now. I am so sorry for your loss. And I am curious along with the other members who posted above me - was the necropsy done? How is your little girl doing? I hope you are doing better, and I truly hope that this thread being dug up doesn't cause you any additional pain. :(
Please let us know anything that you may have learned (If anything new) about your baby's death. It could go a long way to helping someone else on here in the future.

Not sure why this thread is even active again....she hasn't posted since Dec.
and if I recall correctly I think the necropsy was inconclusive so there really are no answers to be had here and personally, if it were me and I did decide to get back on here after all of these months I don't think I'd want this thread to be active reminding me of a very sad time. But that's just me!

I do understand what you are saying, but let's be honest, this thread isn't going to remind her of it. It's only been a few months, I would imagine it's still very fresh in her mind. She may appreciate the sympathy since she's probably still grieving....
