I went out to PetSmart today just to get out of the house, and got my babies a little container of mealies. I have a couple of questions.. How many mealies do you feed per glider, and how often? I have them on the HPW diet, if that makes any difference. This is going to be their first time having mealies, so I don't know how they will react, lol. They are in their pouch snuggling with me right now.

Also, is it true that feeding insects makes gliders smell? I have a feeling that is a load of crap that PP told me, but I don't know..

PP tells eevryone not to feed anything fresh. I think it's all a bunch of bull. Howe many to feed depends on the size of the mealies. The large ones from petsmart I will do about 4 per glider. Smaller ones can be upto 8 per glider per day. I do have to admit some days my gliders get extra mealies...especially the pregnant or nursing moms. I feed the hpw diet too. If your gliders don't take the mealies at 1st break them with a finger nail or cut them in half so they can smell the inside goodies. I always break the worms for the younger gliders to entice them to gobble them up. I used to be scared to even touch a worm and now I am puncturing their skin with my nails...shakes head...what has my life come too...lol.

I feed mine in the morning so it doesn't ruin their dinner.... and I admit, I am weak and I let them eat til they don't want anymore. Oddly enough they eat probably about 10 then they are all finished.

Jazz, as much as I love this picture...I gotta ask...Have your meal worms turned into beetles by now? HOLY COW THAT'S A LOT OF STINKING WORMS!!!!

Rebecca,...no, not yet luckily. A few have turned into aliens so I make sure I feed them before they change all the way. I think that's why we keep them in the fridge, to keep them from turning. They kinda lay dormant in the cold, but you should have seen them go wild at room temp. with some carrot in their...WOW!

I might have to try a few tonight and see how they do :) Im excited to see what they think!

If they don't like them at first try breaking them in half. And you may want to use tweezers,... if they decide they like them, all bets are off...they grab & bite first, ask questions later!

I'll definitely have to use tweezers, lol. I'm not a worm fan (touching, not eating, lol) but I think my babies will like them!
