So I went to Lowes today and spent FOREVER looking for safe plants for the gliders. Well I got Lavender and looked at the moondance page again to make sure it was safe but I got English lavender which has a different botanical name...and isn't on the list (*smashes face on keyboard).

Does anyone know if English lavender is safe?

not sure if that would be the best place to get plants for gliders. you dont know what they have sprayed on the plant or what it has been exposed to. you should find a place that sells organic plants.

Why not call nurserys around your area and ask if they spray pesticides and see if the carry any of the plants on the list?

It is Heidi but you'll want to wait 2 seasons before feeding it to make sure it is rid of any pesticides.

It really would be easier to understand what you are saying if you use punctuation, FYI.

Mkay thank you. This may sound dumb...but how long is two seasons when it comes to plants? lol

Also where in town do you get yours? I was so excited to give them the plants! Stupid pesticides! Thank you all for reminding me of them.

I would wait 2 springs.

I actually got mine from a cheapy mail order catalog like Burgess and the like. They were really cheap and came in just a glob of roots. I planted them and they grew quite rapidly...I had nice plants the first year. This will be their 2nd season in my yard.

Check this out Heidi....

If you ordered from Matt at eucproducts...he's pretty good about reading the emails... I ordered specific limbs on his site and had to correspond with him after I placed the order and he was right on top of it. Had no problem distinguishing the "me" on his website with the "me" via the emails.

I ate a cupcake the other day that was vanilla lavender. It was a vanilla cupcake with a cream cheese frosting. It had rock sugar and lavender sprinkled on top. The flavor was amazing, although I found chewing the blooms rather awkward because it seemed like I had to chew them forever. I burped lavender clear into the night and it was yummy, although very interesting!

I grow English lavender in my yard and have had it for at least three years. I am going to give it to my Gliders this year.

Eng Lavender smells sooo good...but I don't think burping it would be enjoyable.
