Made VGV and fed it last night. While it was not a hit, it also didn't end up on the bottom of the cage. How long does it take to get them to really try it? I'm sure they hate me right now for trying to make them healthy by feeding them this.

I know most people will say give it about 2 weeks. I personally have never lasted that long. I can't stand to see them go without eating 2-3 nights in a row!

You can try mixing it in with his old diet and then slowly lessen the amount of old you are adding to it.

For fear that they would not eat it, I fudged and gave them a dab of LGRS on the side. They cleaned that up lickity-split. They had stopped eating it. I think I will try to mix the two a little anyway and gradually taper the LGRS until gone. I'll ask Val first though.
quote:
You can try mixing it in with his old diet and then slowly lessen the amount of old you are adding to it.

I thought I told you not to serve it with anything else, it makes them not have to try it it since they know they will get their other food if they just wait. Lisa, you are impossible but at least you care. lol
It took my girls like a week to try it but for any food it takes most gliders 2-3 servings before they actually give in and try it.

When I switched to original HPW, they gobbled it up for 2-3 days, then it took them about 2 weeks to want to eat it again. Now that they've adjusted, they eat it every night, like they did w/their old diet.
5 months ago, when I switched Batman off of BML, it took him about a week to adjust.
I wouldn't worry, Lisa. It's normal during diet change to be picky. That's why I never believe them that they don't like a new fruit or veggie until after the 7th or 8th time I serve it. Cuz sometimes it takes awhile for them to think about whether or not they want it.
Or maybe they are just bonding with their food?

If there is food, they will not starve themselves.

You two are right. I guess they'll have to hold their spoiled little noses and eat it.
