I was having tent time tonight with both Batman and Princess. Past 2 nights I have watched her "what looks like to me" open her pouch and clean it. Do they do that when they are not pregnant? It lookslike she is cleaning the inside. I tried to look at her belly to see if I can see bumps but hard to tell. I swear I see 2. Just for a review I rescued both of them on the first. They male is not fixed but they have been together for most their lives as far as I know. They are about 2 12 yrs old. The previous owners had them for 2 yrs. They have never had babies. Do you see your females open and clean their pouches when not pregnant or only when pregnant?

It is normal for an un-pregnant female to open her pouch to clean it. But if you see 2 bumps there is a chance she's pregnant as well. Is there a reason your male is not neutered? Were you hoping for a few joeys?

No I have not had them long. Only 11 days and if she does have them in pouch they it happen before i got them. I Don't mind joeys. They will stay here with me. Its just I had never seen her do that since I have had her. I will have to put her in pouch tomarrow and take a closer look at her belly. lol it took me forever to even figure out if he was fixed or not! Hes not.

Haha. Yeah just get a closer look and see if you see anything. Sometimes you may not even be able to tell if it's too early. Do you plan on getting him neutered?

Yes I do. Just figured I would get them healthy again before I tried that. Now that they are on the right diet and getting their vitamins they are being more active everyday! So its should be safe to get it set up now. I am wanting to to do rescue not breed. If shes pregnant then I will deal with it. But the baby will stay with mom and dad and dad going to get fixed along with any male joeys when old enough.

Good to see that your gliders are on the right track! Having a joey or two isn't a bad thing either. I wish that was something I had experienced with my gliders, but I had two females.

lol I just want to know sooner rather then later. So I can be ready. Shouldn't have any of the issues of a young mother since she is over 2 yrs old. Still plan on adopting and rescueing even if she does have joeys. It would be neat to see them grow up like watching my own kids. Even my hubby has fallen in love with them! He was sad tonight when Princess would not climb on him. When I got into the tent too she jumped right on me lol. She climbed on him after i got in there. So I guess i'm lucky with these 2 bonding so well after only 11 days!

If she is pregnant enough to see bumps you should be able to feel them.

Man she moves around alot! Lol I tried looking at her belly and can't see much. I ran my finger down her belly and can't feel any lumps so I don't think she is at least nothing in pouch yet. Time will tell.

Do you know if they are related? Did the previous owner tell you where she got them?

Not as far as I know. They previous owner had them for 2 years. From what I understand she rescued them from her mother in law. I will email her and see if she can find out where they got them from. It didn't even dawn on me that they might be related. If I can't get a good answer I will get him fixed right away. It would kill me if something was wrong with the babies from inbreeding.
quote:
Do you know if they are related? lol no she not ar at least she wasn't when I posted it. She just went into heat night before last. I didn't know till after the deed was done. Weather she got preggo or not we will see in a couple of weeks. But I also have to remember they are 2 12 yrs old and have never had babies. She may not be able to have babies. Has anyone had a female that was barron? or an intact male for the matter? If they do get pregnant then I think its safe to say they were just on a very bad diet and she refused to have a baby. We shall see.

LOL...Suggielover3...calm down! Cleaning the pouch does NOT necessarily mean that they are pregnant. They do that as a normal hygiene function.
