What is the average time for a neuter to heal? My baby is scheduled to neuter on the 20th and i pick up his cage mate on the 22nd. I don't want to over stress him out with the neuter and the new friend. Plus i don't want to risk the new friend picking at his wound. (They're both babies coming from the same breeder/home so a quarantine isn't needed, just an introduction.)

Sorry I can't help. Batman had a pom off laser surgery so there was nothing to pick at.

well you would need to do intros first and see how that goes. They may hit it off they may hate each other. All that will depend.

I guess i could call the vet and ask. She's doing a laser surgery, but i'm not certain if it's pom off.

I'd love to do the intros when i get her, but it will be two days after his surgery, so i'm a little worried. I am considering waiting until he is healed to do the intros but i don't know what average healing time is.

I would give him about a week to heal. Use that time to work on bonding with her and scent swapping just to get them used to each other. It can be overwhelming for her to come to a new home, with a new person, and then be put in with a new glider so I'd give her a few days at least to settle in.

I agree with Petluv. Give him a week before intros. That way, if they ball up, he'd be better prepared to defend himself, worse case scenario. I know they're from the same breeder but you never know if for some odd reason they decide to be territorial. Especially if he's on meds that might change his scent.

(Ever notice how funny you or others smell when on antibiotics? Just take that into account. She might not recognize him via smell if he's on meds. Or a new diet. Or whatever.)

It may seem torturous to wait, but do it right the first time and you will save yourself a lot of hassle in the long run.

I let both of my boys heal for about 7 days just to be sure. I separated them as well b/c my boy Bandit is an intense groomer. Nothing worse then finding the neuter site all open and picked at, i had to deal with that once with Bandit and i hope that will be the only time!!

I agree..Your timing seems good..Do the the scent swapping, and work at a slow pace, as it gives your boy some time to heal completely.
From what I have learned..With laser/pom off, they do heal most quick.
