I'm having trouble making a decision in terms of a new cage for Dasha. Right now she's living in the cage that Pocket Pets gave me. Needless to say, changes must be made. For about a month I was tossing around the idea of just constructing a PVC cage for her, that way I could adjust the dimensions to my liking. After much thought and blueprints, I decided that buying a cage from ebay would make my life a lot easier in terms of cleaning and general safety.

I've been looking at this cage for about two months now: Cage #1

But this morning I stumbled across this one: Cage #2

Has anyone heard any bad things about either of these cages? If so, what have you heard? Also, would it be worth the extra $20 to buy the bigger one (Cage#2)? At the moment I only have one sugar glider. Somewhere down the line there is a strong chance that I'll find her a cagemate, but that's another story.

All thoughts, comments and opinions are appreciated!

Here's your "stumble" cheaper! I bought 2 of them. Free S&H if you buy 2 or more.... "for10" Coupon code for an additional 10% off. Even if you don't buy 2, with the coupon it's gonna be cheaper than ebay.

I love mine!

I vote cage #2. I have it and love it! The doors are wonderfully big (can fit all wheels in and out). It is a fantastic cage with a fantastic size for a FANTASTIC price!

I like them both, and for one glider I think either would be fine. I'm not sure about the 18 inch depth on cage #2... but I see the other one is only 2 inches deeper, so again I think it will come down to what you want.

You get what you pay for - go with the Excel, not a knock-off.

The knock offs rust. An Excel will last you years.

Apparently they aren't making the Exel anymore....and I have had my Exel since Oct. and there are a few spots of surface rust on it.

Now I hose mine down about twice a month so that may contribute.

If it's between those 2, definitely #2. Bigger is better!

It looks like the popular vote is Cage #2. I was sort of leaning towards that one ever since I found it but wanted to be sure as always. I might as well ask this now, even though it might have a thread already. What do you guys use for "quick fix" cleaning? Like wipes or a product just to wipe down the bars?

Thanks everyone for the speedy feedback! (: The pictures really help me sort of visualize the cage in my room. And thanks for the discount code, jazznzoeysmom! I think I'm definitely going to buy from the LA Shop.

Definitely, #2. We have one just about the same and our 3 LOVE it.

The two rescues we got last Oct didn't know what to do with all that space since the 2 of them had been in a cage less than half that size (think small 18x18x24 black cage with a heat rock, wheel, 1 branch and 1 hanging toy).

I guess I should have commented on #1 as well. Def a nice little cage but for such a small amount more you can get the larger cage and I don't think you will regret it. To respond to Valkyrie's post. I don't know about the rust except that I have an Exel and a "knock off". Both have had small instances of rust but the kind that you can wipe right off. I think that my "hosing down" probably contributes to this too. Honestly, the Exel was $227 on sale and the other one was $140ish. They perform virtually the same for me. HOWEVER, I have not had them long enough to say that I won't be disappointed in a few years that I have rust. Call me completely crazy but I am HAPPY if I get 5 years out of cage. For critter nation - I love those cages. The doors open ALL the way up so you can get in the WHOLE thing so easy. They are pretty pricey comparison wise though.

I completely mis-spoke an I apologize! Cage #2 is an HQ knock-off. It is HQ cages that do not rust!

Sorry for confusion.

I have the critter nation two story. I took all the stuff out of the inside so its wide open for them and myne love it. Yes the doors are huge! Myne was only around 500.00 in canada. Pricey but if it lasts totally worth it.

Have to agree, If I could, I'd get the #2 also or even something bigger if space & money allowed.
As for cleaning, I mix 1part white vinegar with 2part water in a bottle and just squirt in on a dampened sponge wipe and then wipe down the bars. I started doing the whole cage at one time, but have read on here that people usually wipe down in sections, so as not to eliminate all of their markings. So now that's what I do. I like the using the vinegar solution because I've read that vinegar kills bacteria and is non-toxic, those are my decision makers. I do have a bottle of Healthy Habitat around that I use on my little dragon's enclosure floor, mainly spot cleaning. I also have a Scunci Steamer (hand held) that I use on my little dragon's enclosure (he's in a reptarrium). I haven't used the steamer on the girls cage, but may give it a try, but I have used the HH on the poop tray. Since most of the time I wipe down with girls inside, I use the vinegar solution on the bars. It cleans up real well, and after the first time you use it, at least for me, the vinegar smell bothers me less each time I use it.
