mine guys make that sound sometimes but its only when one of them is bitting the other to hard or some then like that imo if you can hold her and kinda poke and apply pressure to nibble to see if he makes that sound when certain areas are touched like hold his feet apply pressure hold he's side just touch him all over or call your vet and see if thats normal or if its anything of concern

Mine make this sounds too, usually when they're up and grooming eachother in their pouch. Or when they get mad at me and dont want to come out of their pouch or stay still during "depooping" time when they 1st wake up. I think it means " You're annoying me ... stop!!"

Also, in watching the video I noticed the nose is not purplish. This is a good sign that the oxygen level is good.

OMG! I shouldn't have played that in the office. I've played crabbing and barking and singing - never had my gliders respond. 4 cages answered Nibbler - either by crabbing or barking.
I associate that sound as being a combination of crying and crabbing. It is not a happy glider sound.

I think the sound females make while in heat is much longer, this sounds like the kind of noise that my girls make while constipated. In any case I think it means they are in some sort of distress.

Is he by himself? It sounds kind of like their "I'm looking for my buddy" call. I have one girl that'll make a noise like that at me when I come in the room and she wants my attention.

My pair make a similar short hiss sound every evening when the first wake. The youngest generally wakes earlier, while the other likes to sleep later. I've always correlated it to one telling the other to leave her alone, get off, etc. I always hear it though when they're in the pouch together usually 930-1000..

Mine make that at eachother when they are slightly annoyed but they've never done it just sitting by themselves.

i have two girls in a cage. it seems almost every time she does it she pokes her head out of the pouch and looks out when she does it,but she has only been doing this for a month or so. i have had her since 06 so i would think i would have heard her make this noise. how do i know if she is in heat?

Rita, our boys get a purplish nose when they get chilled. It definitely pinks back up though. Is it normal for their noses to get a little purple if they are cool? Oh and Omi and Kai make that noise at each other often.
quote:
Also, in watching the video I noticed the nose is not purplish. Omni n Kai - Almost all of my gliders' noses will turn purple-ish if they get upset. Like if I'm cutting nails or something.
