I don't really use the bonding pouch at all. Despite making it a point to get one for each of my boys. Kinda wish I had spent that money on extra toys for them instead, since we all know they can never have too many. :)
I have a ton of fleece blankets ~(12in x 12in) that I keep near their cages, and during the day I will take one of these blankets and wrap it around one of them and tuck that in the top of my shirt during the day. This way they each were able to get used to my scent, my sound, my movements... all while they were already in a relaxed state because it was daytime. I will keep each one on me for a couple hours before grabbing a new blanket to wrap the other one and switching them out.
I will periodically take whichever one I am holding out of the blanket to pet or kiss them and hold them in my hand for a few minutes... and then place them back in the blanket that is still sitting open at the top of my shirt.
This way I get to bond with them, without disrupting their normal cycle. I thought about doing the tent time during the day, but I realized they would either end up sleeping in there, or I would risk throwing off their schedule by getting them in play-mode during the day.
The blanket thing is the compromise I came up with... and it worked wonders for speeding up the bonding process with Aristotle, my oldest, dramatically... as in, less than 2 weeks? It was pretty quick. Still working on Zeus, but we only brought him home less than 2 weeks ago. All in all, he is doing really well too. :)
